Purgatory's class structure is matriarchal. The ruler of this swampish wasteland is the Sovereign, and beneath her, the Subaltern. The next tier below are the Alpha and Beta of Beasts, both of which may transition to Elderbeast once of age. Beasts are creatures that have not yet gained enough dominance to wield power, yet are bestowed permission to live unharmed on the astral plane. The lowest rung of class are the Souls. When each life is born, they begin as a New Soul and graduate to Soul upon reaching maturity. It is this stage where the Soul is granted three options:

Escape, Ascend, or Die.

Purgatorio - Alternatively, "Pedro Purgatorio." A coyote-esque demon manifestation of the sin of envy, standing at roughly 2.4 ft tall by the shoulder, larger than the average coyote yet smaller than a wolf. His tail is a sentient green tree python. Purge is able to shift forms depending on his environment, but he will always be seen with python at his side, as they are bound for eternity. His dark fur is stained a sickly green by the swamp of envy at the 4th level of sin, where he emerged into creation. The stench of the sulfery marsh water is stapled to him, often masked by a strong scent of blue-spike sage. His sigil is stitched into his left shoulder.
