Berto runs a kidnapping operation, killing wolves for bones. He and Bidoo have quite the repartee going on. Berto's usually method of kidnapping is to get the wolf alone and then knock them out. He has yet to be caught.

Berto spits on the ground, glares, and settles himself down, grinning like a hyena. "Howdy, partner. Ya lookin' teh know mo' abou' me? Don' think yeh can jus' mosey on in heah an' get the scoop on me? Well, partner, yeh'll have teh work a little harder teh get me teh talk. Nice try, bucco. It'll take more'n that teh get me teh spill my guts."

Berto is a god-loving daredevil buckaroo. He was raised in the Wild West, an outlaw, and he acts like it. He'll shoot anyone who gets in his way, which is why the Mafia took him in. He likes to get himself into dangerous situations and lives on the adrenaline rush of nearly dying. Everyone is a wild, zany game to him, and he's always in a wild, zany mood. He's also very religious, believing that he'll always be safe because someone up there's looking out for him. Strange, considering his profession.

His mother was a dog taken from her home and forced to be a sled dog, a half wolf who ultimately chose to live a full wolf's life. His father raised him in the wild frontier, where he was lucky enough to meet The Red Lady, Rubina. They crossed paths a few times, and when he found out she had been arrested, he went to rescue her. Turns out she had rescued herself. They lived together for a time, but Rubina ultimately chose to leave him.

He wears a loose red silk shirt for his bullfighting, as well as "normal" cowboy attire.
