I hope that gives y'all a little bit more info about Autumn. Basically, she got disturbed that the Darkseekers (No offense, it's just part of the plot, LOL) "stole" Moose and killed him. They only did this to weaken Autumn since she was a very powerful and commanding leader, and the time for Elections was coming up. The Elections are held where every pack gathers, which is known as the Meeting Place. There, the Alpha of each pack (Alpha Female only, unless she dies and the Alpha Male steps in) competes in both verbal, physical, and emotional competition to see which Alpha is the most prominent Alpha for the throne (ElementPack's Alpha Female/Male). If a pack does not want to enter their Alpha into this competition, then that's their choice. ElementPack looks over each pack and is considered the Queens/Kings of the realm. If you don't listen to them, you are killed off or banished overseas, which is like being extracted from society. Now you realize how important this role is. Then the Darkseekers lied and told Autumn that Moose was "alive and healthy" and would be traded back for the only pups that they knew she had--Dakota and Rusty, which meant that Firefly was unknown and therefore deemed safe and "hidden" from my pack's enemies. So this broke Autumn down mentally until she was left with nothing but a small core of truth, courage, and hope. Note that I didn't say kindness.
