| @Moonfall It's because the wavelengths of black, white, and grey are all picked up by the same structure in the retina, rods which notably doesn't pick up colour. Colour is only picked up by the cones, and even then technically we only see blue, red, and green as other colours are reconstructed by the brain. |

| i do know that there are some pelts that are counted as greyscale despite not being as such, didn't know it was the same with markings |

| Eye, white is all the colors and black is is an absense of them so grey should be somewhere in the middle of that, right? (I recently learned that mixing a bunch of colors is subtracting light waves so it doesn't bounce off our eyes, it now absorbs it and if it absorbs it it isn't another color, ever so paraphrased from my swisscheese memory) |
