An eerie silence fell over the land. Only the sound of a rushing river breached the dark silence that lingered above the forest. A thick fog had settled over the ground, snaking between trees and running with the river.
But this was no ordinary river.
It was the black river. Filled with poison, but it was the start of a new life.
One wolf dared to drink from it. And that wolf, was forever changed. Becoming a dreaded monster that thrived in the darkness. Her soul had darkened to nothing, and she no longer felt the emotion that she should.
The rhythmic beating of a warm heart thudded in her ears. She could sense the blood rushing through his veins, she could sense the fear, the terror, the madness.
Yes, her mate.
She slaughtered him.
Now she was a monster of the dark. An ancient legend told as a bedtime story. But this wolf was no legend, she was real, she was here. She was out for blood, chaos, murder, world domination, evil. There was only one word that could describe such a wolf. And the name that was given to her, Morana, has been lived up to.
She was now, Death itself.
A low, dark howl breached the eerie silence of the forest. Light veered away from dark for the first time, as a beast moved among the shadows. Red eyes glowed in menace from beneath the thick blanket of black. Her heart thundered and her body quivered in excitement. Removing herself from the darkness, and into the moonlight, a horrific figure was exposed.
Terribly scarred by battle. Her right half of her muzzle completely torn off exposing large glinting fangs. Her body rolled and thrived with mass muscle as she slithered her way towards a victim. She could smell his fear. She could almost taste is blood.
Something began to seep from her jaws, a deadly black liquid that sizzled when it hit the ground. She lunged, taking down her victim. His screams for mercy seemed to echo forever in the darkness. But still they seemed to be drowned in the silence. A flash of fangs and the male fell to the forest floor. Blood poured from a deep wound on his throat, but that was not the only thing causing him to scream.
The liquid began to slowly burn itself through his body, burning every organ it touched. The males petrified screams turned into bellyaching screeches as he gripped the ground. His body jerked violently as the poison seeped through his eye sockets, nose, ears, and mouth. Until the poison had eaten through everything on the inside, causing him to look starved. Then it made its way through his skin until he looked nothing other than a black, decaying carcass.
If you were lucky enough to escape, wherever she bit you, her victim would become paralyzed for a certain amount of time.
Would there ever be a cure for her madness?
Or will she continue to reign in the dark.
To live as Death.
