Oh, that's because its a gas heater, basically a fireplace. You have to hold down the switch, turn it, wait for it to click then ignite (7/10 times it doesn't), hold it down to let the gas mains kick in (forgotten several times), THEN let go and turn it the rest of the way. Most of the time I let it go too early and the flame goes out :/
