Okay, if I'm right, the first point of you graph is on X = 4. You then go up one, over one, in both directions.

Depends on where you plug in the number^

If you had x+ 3 there, the graph would begin on x = 3

If you had 2 | x + 4| the graph would begin on x = 3, but instead o 1/1, the rise over run would 2/1. You would go up 2, over 1.

If you had |x + 4| + 1, The graph would begin on 4,1 instead of four, so the base point would raise up one.
