Caine ◇ He/Him ◇ Rouge Caine licks his lips as he finishes his share of the meal. He often went a day or two without eating, so he had gotten used to not eating a lot. Caine's gaze turned to Zephyr's, whos bright eyes he found a bit startling as they seemed to pierce through him. Moonlight sparkled in through the den entrance, the yellow glow of Zephyr's gaze standing out now more than it did before. Caine sighed, shaking the thoughts from his head. Although he refused to admit it - even to himself - he thought of Zephyr as rather alluring and fierce. Crickets buzzed faintly outside, and the soothing mist of the night air made Caine feel rather relaxed, even when sitting with an unfamiliar wolf-dog he had met previously that day. Caine nudged what was left of the kill to Zephyr, gaze still meeting his. "..Here." |

Zephyr ✫ He/Him ✫ Wolf-Dog Zephyr dips his head gratefully. "Thank you" he murmurs, taking greedy bites from the plump rabbit and finishing it quickly. Zephyr licks his chops, his belly full for the first time all day. He uses his paw to move it to the side of the den. His eyes flicker around the now dark den, landing on Caine. His gaze fills with question. "What's your story?" he asks in a low voice, gingerly leaning against the wall of the den. "I mean like, where you born outside of a pack?" Zephyr flicks his ear and begins to pick at his claws as he awaits an answer. |

Caine ◇ He/Him ◇ Rouge Caine stared for a minute, a bit caught offgaurd by the question. His gazed swirled deep with thought. A cold breeze blew through the entrance of the den, making his spine shiver and ruffling his fur a bit. Was it really safe to be vulerable? Now? Here, sitting next to this almost stranger? He didn't know hardly anything more than this wolf-dog's name, let alone who he was or his past. Caine's eyes narrowed a bit with suspicion, but for some reason his heart told him it was okay. "My mother and father were rouges and so I was born one too. I never had the experience of being in a pack. When I was young, my parents didn't get along all that well, and my dad left when I was just a pup. Then, just a couple months later..." Caine stopped himself, hesitating, his gaze turning hard and cold. Once again his eyes met Zephyr's, but now his expression wasn't all so friendly or relaxed. He gave a low growl. "..A couple months later, he came back and killed her in cold blood. Now I hope to find that son-of-a-bitch and give him what he deserves." |

Zephyr ✫ He/Him ✫ Wolf-Dog Zephyr listened to Caines story, his ears perked when he paused. "I'm sorry about your mother" he murmured, slight regret poked at his pelt. I hope I didn't screw up by asking him that kind of question. Zephyr frowns, hoping he didn't offend this wolf-dogs feelings. As much as he tried to tell himself not to, he couldn't help but smile. He respected Caines hatred towards his father. He realized with a slight frown that they had similar goals. Despite his original hatred for this rouge, the respect he felt towards this wolf-dog was growing ever deeper and deeper the longer he knew him. Even if it was only for a day. |

Caine ◇ He/Him ◇ Rouge Caine sighed, shaking his fur, cooling his temper as he had learned to do many times before. His gaze warmed again from the ice-cold glare it had grown into and he glanced back to Zephyr. "...It's fine. I suppose there's no point in getting heated over it right now." Yawning, Caine stretched out across his mossy bed, the cool ground feeling nice against his shaggy coat. He looked to Zephyr, who he realized was laying on dirt. "Tomorrow morning, we can go gather some supplies for a nest for you if ya want. Hell, if you want to you can tonight, but don't expect me to help. I'm worn down." Caine said this with the slightest chuckle, head resting down on top of his paws as he closed his eyes with an exhale. |

Zephyr ✫ He/Him ✫ Wolf-Dog "I've never slept on a nest so I'm perfectly fine here, thanks". Zephyr mumbles, settling onto the ground, his back legs kicked out beside him. He lays with his back facing the wall, his head resting on his paws but he keeps his watchful eye on Caine. He still doesn't trust this wolf-dog and isin't taking any risks. Zephyr eventually nods off into a light sleep, his ears still perked and alert despite his restful state. - Should we have a time skip to morning? |
