When they stepped outside and away from the store, Asher watched everyone fleeing from the building with a proud smirk even as he tried to figure out what went wrong. “Maybe there’s more cobwebs on that then I originally thought I had on that beginner level spell…it should have gone off but not that soon…” his voice trailed off a bit as he thought out loud to himself before he shrugged it off. He looked around at the people who were coughing. He thought it was kinda pathetic that they had to cough from a little smoke that wouldn’t have killed them but humans must have become more sensitive then he remembered. He cleared his throat a bit before speaking up, his voice almost comparable to velvet as he watched the humans. “Whatever you say jumpy. Don’t blame me if I add shortie to the list of nicknames I have for you.” He shrugged and sighed before continuing again, this time giving her his attention. “To answer your questions, yes that was me. You're welcome for adding some fun to the day already. Yes, I was going to pay with actual money.” He gave her a look that almost seemed to say, “yes I’ll pay for stuff. Stealing from stores is stooping too low for me” when he said actual money. He sighed and pinched his nose bridge in slight annoyance as he continued to speak, actually sounding exhausted, and not like he was just trying to put that kind of tone in his voice. “The smoke thingy just went off earlier than I expected. Don’t even bother returning the clothes. Just keep the tags for later. Maybe scaring the humans was the point… it's almost as if that was the whole point. Besides, it wasn't as dangerous as I could have made it. It could have been a couple explosions I hid around that store.” He started walking in a random direction, just wanting to get to whatever run down shack the counsel set them up with. He scratched the back of his neck with his hand as he felt the energy drained from him as those spells started to hit him. “It must have been longer since I’ve done something like that than I remember.” He mumbled to himself as he started to stumble just a little as he walked in the random direction he had picked.

Iris didn't voice her doubts of him actually paying. She decided it would be better to save her energy for something a little more useful.
"That wasn't exactly fun," she said quietly. Asher sounded absolutely exhausted with her like it was his job to watch her. Then he turned and started walking away. Surprisingly, he was actually going in the right direction towards the house. Iris, tired and still hungry, followed after him, keeping a few steps behind. She didn't say anything for the rest of the walk there. Once they finally got to the street, Iris looked carefully for the door number of their new house. No mistakes this time. One she had triple-checked, Iris muttered, "It's this one," as she pulled out a key from her pocket and unlocked the door.
The house was average size with plenty of room for the both of them. The faint smell of lavender drifted to her nose and she smiled softly. It was pretty empty: nothing that wasn't considered necessary.
The first thing the angel did was take a visit to the kitchen. Opening the fridge, a wave of disappointment hit her like a ton of bricks.
It's... empty. Maybe the cupboards will have something?
They were also empty. How was food not considered a necessity? Iris was too tired to keep looking in case she had missed something and just went up the stairs. There were more than two rooms but she didn't have the energy to count or explore. Instead, she chose a room that Asher hadn't taken and flopped onto the bed.
Today was horrible. Nope, not horrible, but maybe not the best. She had to stay optimistic. Asher is definitely....a character but I'm sure he has a bit of good in him.
Iris frozen when she heard a poof and a pop from the wardrobe. Was Asher playing another trick? Careful not to injure him, or whatever was in there, Iris got up and inches over to the wardrobe. Maybe it was a gift. Or a bunny or puppy! A kitten? What sounds did those animals even make? They were very cute though. She wondered if she could possibly convince Asher to let them get one. After all, if she got a pet then he would be living with it too. Reaching her hand out, Iris slowly opened the door and peeped in. Clothes. Her clothes.
"Oh. The Council must have sent them. And they gave my nice PJs!" Grinning like a little kid, Iris quickly hung her new clothes up before snatching the pair of night clothes. Pulling the top over her head, Iris sighed contently as she flicked the lights off and fell back onto her bed. The pajamas were everything you could ask for: soft, fresh, purple with small white rabbits on them. She pulled the covers over her head and closed her eyes, sleep already overcoming her. She wondered what kind of pajamas Asher was wearing.

When they had gotten to the house, Asher didn’t take any time at all to look around the place. He was too tired and drained. He barely noticed a flight of stairs near the entrance and quietly walked up them till he found several doors leading to different places. He walked over towards a door that was at the end of a short hall on his left. When he reached it, he twisted the doorknob and opened the door and stepped in before closing the door behind him. He didn’t feel like exploring the room at all. “I’ll do that later…” he mumbled to himself as he walked over to the bed. When he reached the bed, he collapsed onto it and passed out without changing his clothes.

When he woke up, he rubbed his eyes and reached for his phone. When he looked at his phone screen, he winced a bit from the brightness. He turned the brightness down a bit so it was easier on his eyes before paying attention to the time. 3 am. He ran his hand down his tired face and got up. He left the room and made his way to a bathroom to clean himself up a bit and splashing water on his face to wake himself up a bit. After he was done with the bathroom, he went down to what he could only guess was a kitchen. Asher made sure he was deathly quiet as he moved about the house. He looked in cabinets and the fridge to find cobwebs in the cabinets and a flickering light in the fridge. He sighed and made a list of everything he’d have to do. He found a piece of paper, an envelope and a pen in a drawer in the kitchen and wrote a quick letter before placing $100 in it. After that he quietly left the small home and went back into the town.

He made his way to the clothes store and slid the envelope under the door. “They’ll find it. Didn’t bother to look at the price tags for jumpy’s stuff but I’m guessing 100 should be more than enough.” He thought to himself before making his way to a gas station he noticed on the way to the house. He had seen lights on earlier so he guessed they were still open. He walked up to the place and pulled the door open and walked in. “Guess they are open…” Asher thought to himself as he walked in and started walking up and down the isles. He grabbed some breakfast and dinner meals along with some drinks. Enough stuff to at least get them through 2 or 3 days in case they for some reason couldn’t make their way to a grocery store. He brought the stuff up to the counter and paid for the stuff quietly before leaving the place and making his way back to the small house.

When he was back in the house, he carried the bags holding the stuff into the kitchen and placed them onto the counter. He put the meals into the cabinets and the drinks into the fridge before putting the bags in an empty cabinet by the sink. He looked at the glowing time on the microwave. 4:45 am. He yawned and made his way back to the stairs and back to his room.

When he reached his room, he removed his flannel and put it on a side table before moving towards a dresser. Inside, he found a pair of grey sweatpants amongst other things. At least the angel council did something helpful. He pulled out the sweatpants and changed into them. They actually seemed to fit his long legs and leaner waist. He didn’t feel like testing the shirts to see if they’d fit him right and not be a crop top on him and didn’t feel like sleeping with his dirty shirt so he decided that he’d sleep in the sweatpants only. He made his way over to the bed and got back under the sheets. That way he'd at least get a little more sleep before the singing rainbow woke up.

When Iris finally woke up, light was streaming into her room from her window. Stretching and sighing contently, she checked the time. 9:35 AM. It was a little later than she usually woke up but yesterday had been very busy. Sliding her feet into a pair of fluffy white slippers (conveniently) placed next to her bed, Iris made her way over to the bathroom. She took a few minutes to freshen up then went hunting around her bedroom for a hairbrush.
"Oh, found one!" she happily said. There were a few other things beside it, one of them being a wad of money. Dragging the brush through her brown hair, Iris started to count each stroke.
"One, two, three..." Her voice was the only sound as she counted all the way to one hundred. After all, how else was she supposed to keep her hair all nice? She guessed Asher was still sleeping so it wouldn't matter if she was still in her pajamas. Iris made her way down the stairs, bright eyed and curious. It was finally time to do a bit of exploring. As Iris moved from room to room, she quickly found that there wasn't anything particularly interesting anywhere. There were a few empty rooms - a pet room maybe? - that Iris took note of. She would talk to Asher about what to do with them later, if she remembered. Her stomach growled and Iris thought about the empty kitchen. She instantly brightened. What if the Council added food during the night? Iris hurried to the kitchen and checked through the cupboards and fridge.
"Looks like I was right." She took a bottle from the fridge. Squinting, Iris tried to read the label. Her eyes were still more used to the angel characters that she would see everywhere at home. 'Apple Juice' she managed to eventually decode, turning pink in embarrassment despite being alone. She poured some into a cup and checked for food. There were a few meals in the cupboards. She busied herself with making her breakfast and sorting out the kitchen a little more. This place could definitely use some flowers, she thought. Hopefully, she could go shopping later and buy some, along with a few other items to brighten up the place.
Iris finished her food swiftly. She found herself alone with her thoughts and she was glad for some quiet time. Asher was already a bit too much to handle 24/7 for her. Most people were. She placed her dishes in the sink, promising to wash them after, and made a second meal for Asher once he woke up. She left a small note beside it in her cursive handwriting, telling him that she would be back soon. 10:04 AM. Plenty of time.
With that done, Iris changed into the purple sweater and leggings they "bought" yesterday and headed out the door. The air was cool, a small breeze brushing past her. As she meandered through the streets near the house, Iris noticed she got a lot less strange looks than yesterday. It was definitely the clothes. She noticed a little flower shop that sat on the corner of the street. It looked like things were going better for her today. The lady inside greeted her warmly and named a few of the different flowers. It smelt fresh. Tulips, roses, lilies, orchids, carnations. In the end, Iris couldn't make a decision and just bought a few of each, making sure to at least get a couple of purple ones. Plus a vase or two. Arms now full, Iris headed back. She let herself in, sorted the flowers into their vases and placed one in the kitchen and the other in her own room. Unsure whether Asher was awake, Iris knocked gently on his door and called his name softly. If he was still sleeping, she didn't want to disturb him.

Asher woke up some time after hearing a door click close. Stretched a bit and ran a hand down his before looking at his phone again. 10:30. He got up and left his room to freshen up once again, and so he could go to the bathroom, before heading back to his room. He made sure he closed the door behind him before going over to the bed.He let out a sigh and sat on the bed, deciding to watch some videos for a while when he woke up. Some time passed and he heard a knock on the door. He tossed his phone to the side and got up to see what the rainbow kid needed. At least he guessed that’s who was knocking. He opened the door, one hand still holding it and his body shifting to lean against it, to see the very being he thought it was. “What’s up rainbow?” He asked, his voice sounding slightly deeper and rougher from sleep and not really talking much since he got up. “Don’t tell me you didn’t burn a building in town without me already.” He grinned as he spoke, teasing her a little.

He knew angels were supposed to be morally right and all that but he thought it would be fun and interesting to see the little bird’s reaction to something that people would typically associate with him and his kind. “I’m guessing you found the food alright and understood how to prepare it well enough?” He asked, sounding gentler and softer somehow. Asher guessed that she would have thought it was the angel council who had left the food almost like they had forgotten to leave it. So he decided to ask just to get her mind spinning on who could have actually gotten the food, and seeing if he possibly not wanting to starve here would be thrown in as a possibility in that storm. The thought hit him then that they’d have to get jobs or something while they were there. If he was temporarily suspended there for some time and she was supposed to be his babysitter, they’d need a way to pay for things without thinking that they’d wake up and money would magically appear waiting for them next to their beds or on the kitchen counter.

Iris blinked in surprise when Asher appeared at the door. She expected him to still be asleep since demons didn't seem like morning people. Yes, that was one of the many stereotypes she heard about them but it was one of those that she thought would be true.
"I- no. I didn't mess anything up today." The teasing tone to his voice made Iris flush in embarrassment. Did he really think she was going to get in trouble already? She wasn't that incompetent, was she? She vaguely gestured behind her.
"I made breakfast for you. It was easy to make. Thanks...for getting it," she added quickly. She only just thought of the possibility that Asher could have gone out and bought the food. How could she have missed that? Probably because he's a demon. And then there's the Angel Council. But demons can be good too, right? Isn't that what I'm here to prove? "I'm going to go hang out in my room. I'll just be there if you need me...or anything. Or if you want to go out. I have to come with you, 'cause- well, you already know." Now it was just rambling. She turned and quickly walked away. The angel headed into her room and gently closed the door with a light click. It was quiet apart from the faint chirps of birds outside. Birds didn't sound too bad either for a pet. A bluebird would be nice. Or a parrot. Or a dove! Iris reminded herself again to talk to Asher about it later along with what to use the spare rooms for. They should also get a TV. Would they need jobs to pay for that? Or would the Council fund everything?

Asher yawned a bit before he said anything. “You're welcome.” He watched her leave before he made his way down to the kitchen. He made sure to close his door before he completely forgot about it. When he reached the kitchen, he noticed the food on the counter and went over to it. He noticed it was cold, so he stuck it in the microwave for a minute. As he waited for his food, he moved to the fridge and grabbed one of the energy drinks he had gotten. He popped it open and took a sip before having to set it down on the counter as the microwave beeped. He opened the door, took it out, set it on the counter and started looking for a fork or something like that. When he finally found something, he grabbed his stuff and just shifted to a different spot at the counter. He stood and scrolled on his phone while he ate. “An amusement park or something like that could be fun…” He thought to himself.

When he was almost done eating, he thought he should probably ask Iris if there was anything she wanted to do or just talk about. He pulled out his phone and went to messages. Only her in there, no surprise. “Anything you want to do or talk about?” He hit send and finished up the rest of his food. When he was done, he put all the stuff away and explored the layout of the house. The angel people could have at least left them with stuff like decent furniture, especially if they wanted him to have better behavior. How else was that supposed to happen if they stayed in their separate rooms? A sleepover every night? He scoffed a bit at the idea of the angel higher ups forcing them to have a sleepover every night just for his attitude to change.
