⊹˚₊‧───────────‧₊˚⊹
.
Physical Appearance:
Baron Streiler is as smart as the devil and two times prettier. This man holds himself with a strong sense of authority and confidence, often mistaken for arrogance...which he is—at times. Standing at 6'4" feet tall and weighing around 210 pounds, he's lean with a prominent, muscular frame that commands attention wherever he goes. With broad shoulders that lead down to strapping biceps, his forearms are fairly veiny, a testament to the rigorous physical demands of his work. Despite the ruggedness of his hands, which bear the callouses from a life spent grappling with tools and materials, they are surprisingly gentle to the touch, deftly capable of both strength and care. His nails are always kept short and well taken care of, a subtle indication of his meticulous nature.
Overall, his actual body structure is proportionate and rather mesomorphic, featuring a muscular, wider chest that tapers down to a slimmer torso and hips, leading to long, strong legs that seem to carry him with an effortless grace. His middle is well-defined, showcasing abdominal muscles that hint at a softer six-pack, while a noticeable v-cut resides a tad bit lower, emphasizing the dedication he puts into maintaining his physique. His back is equally impressive, with strong shoulders and a straight, almost cat-like posture that exudes confidence and readiness. Scars litter his back, remnants of intense training sessions and the occasional disagreement during work—each telling a story of resilience and the challenges he has faced. His skin is smooth with a light tan coloration, devoid of blemishes, save for the scars that add character to his otherwise flawless complexion.
Now, moving to his facial structure. The man is practically a Greek god, with a sharp jawline that cuts across his diamond-shaped face, lending him an air of regality. His high cheekbones dip in ever so slightly, enhancing his striking features. Baron's lips are fuller, colored a lighter pink, with two defined peaks on his upper lip that lend a certain charm, while his bottom lip is softly rounded, creating a harmonious balance. Behind those lips lies a pearly white smile, a charismatic and deceptive grin that can disarm even the most guarded of hearts. His nose, more reminiscent of classic Roman architecture, has a small bump in the middle that adds character, culminating in a light upturn at the tip that gives him a mischievous yet approachable appearance.
His brows are well-sculpted and dark brown, framing his captivating eyes—hooded and a striking gold color rimming with dark brown, thick lashes accentuating their allure. Baron's gaze can shift from piercing intensity to playful warmth in an instant, making it difficult for anyone to resist being drawn into his orbit. His hair is a raven black color, with a silky look that catches the sun in proper lighting, giving off an almost ethereal glow. It’s thick and wavy, falling just above his brow in a way that frames his face perfectly while still looking like he just got done with training.

Personality:
MBTI Type: ESTP
Resourceful | Confident | Dark | Cold | Calculating | Emotionally Distant | Arrogant | Brash | Loyal | Protective | Empathetic | Domineering
Baron Streiler needs to be everything an executioner would be, embodying the cold efficiency required to serve his king and ensure the safety of his kingdom. With a heart coated in steel, he has become a man hardened by the trials of his past, which have left him dark and emotionally distant, often leading others to perceive him as arrogant and brash. This facade of confidence and boldness masks a complex individual who is fiercely competitive and protective of those he deems worthy of his loyalty.
He approaches life as a practical thinker, a strategic mind always scanning the horizon for potential threats while simultaneously devising resourceful solutions to problems that arise, often before they even surface. His ability to anticipate dangers has earned him a reputation as a tactical genius among his peers, instilling a sense of respect and fear that commands attention in both the court and the battlefield. In social settings, he can be charming and persuasive, effortlessly drawing people into his orbit with a magnetic charisma that belies his more sinister role as an executioner. Yet, there lies an undercurrent of deception within him, as he deftly navigates conversations, sometimes hiding his true intentions behind a veneer of amiability, allowing him to manipulate situations to his advantage without revealing the depths of his true nature.
Impulsivity often drives his decisions, leading to moments of disorganization and impatience that clash with his otherwise calculated demeanor. In the heat of the moment, he is unflinching, ready to act decisively, yet this same trait makes him blunt and at times insensitive to the feelings of others, leaving a trail of bruised egos and fractured relationships in his wake. His energy is palpable, fueling his inventive spirit as he tackles challenges head-on, a natural risk-taker who thrives on adrenaline and the thrill of adventure. It is this very quality that propels him into situations where others would hesitate, yet it simultaneously serves as a double-edged sword, often placing him at odds with the more cautious advisors who surround him.
However, beneath this robust exterior lies a struggle—one that involves his tendency to think only in the moment and a difficulty in following through with plans. While he can devise intricate strategies in the blink of an eye, the follow-through often eludes him, leaving his schemes half-formed and vulnerable to the ravages of time and circumstance. Although he often shows his heart to few, there is a deep-seated fear of love that complicates his relationships, leaving him feeling conflicted and broken at times, as he grapples with the dichotomy of his role as both protector and executioner. His sense of respect is non-negotiable; he is easily triggered by any form of disrespect toward himself or those he cares for, and the thought of his time being wasted only adds to his frustrations, often resulting in explosive confrontations that further isolate him from those around him.
In this intricate tapestry of traits, Baron Streiler stands as a formidable figure—an executioner not merely by duty, but by the very essence of his being, wrestling with his inner demons while striving to fulfill his role as protector of the realm. He embodies the duality of man, walking the fine line between darkness and light, battling the ghosts of his past while forging a path towards an uncertain future. Each decision he makes is weighed against the backdrop of his previous failures and triumphs, creating a complex character who is as enigmatic as he is formidable. The echoes of his past reverberate in his actions, shaping his present and influencing the choices he makes for tomorrow, as he navigates the treacherous waters of loyalty, betrayal, and the ceaseless quest for redemption in a world where the line between justice and vengeance is often blurred. Ultimately, Baron Streiler is not just an executioner; he is a man in search of purpose, striving to reconcile the shadows of his soul with the noble ideals he is sworn to protect.

Strengths & Weaknesses:
Strengths
Combat Skills; The training began when Baron turned sixteen. As young adults who wish to partake in the dragon-taming tournaments need to go through two years of grueling combat training, that's exactly what Baron did. Even before he was appointed as one of the King's Advisors, the ruler seemed to...favor him. Which was great in some aspects but rather terrible in others. The King expected much from Baron, which also meant he was challenged further- not only in the physical aspect of training but in the mental and emotional aspect of it as well. Baron had been trained arduously enough that even the king hasn't been able to complete a session with him- and that had continued... until he was met with his match. His equal. And the woman who broke his heart in ways he never thought possible. No training could have prepared him for that. And he's not planning on letting that happen again.
Charm; However dangerous and cold this man may be, he certainly knows the way around social situations. Always meaning to come off as charming and sociable. And he does just that. The man's charismatic and alluring complexion seems to draw people in, catching their attention when he walks into a room. With his persuasive nature and experience in different social classes, he knows just the right way to flash an endearing grin or a suggestive glance to get what he wants making him ever so cunning and deceptive. He knows how to get what he wants and by no means is anything getting into his way there.
Loyalty; It's terrifying what this man could end up doing for someone he's tied to. And that's exactly why he doesn't blatantly give it out to people. If you want him to stand by your side, earn it. Baron's loyalty comes primarily from his work with the King of Tyris. He's a soldier. He does what he's told without complaint and does it willingly because he knows for sure that its ought to be right... He would go down a proud man to die for that someone in which he was faithful to.
Weaknesses
Emotionally Detached; He was once. Vulnerable, I mean. However, as he grew older and went through perilous training he found himself getting less so. There was a point in his life where he simply didn't interact with anyone other than the people he worked for because of the gnawing fear that he would become that...weak little boy from his past. Someone came along at that time though. And by god was it hard not to share everything with her. He really had cared for her... but everything has to end at some time. And for Baron, things ended in betrayal, wrath, and heartbreak. Slowly and surely, he's crawled back into that mask of indifference and emotionless actions. Unsure and not quite wanting to know if there's any way to fix him. Anything. And everything.
Hyperthymesia - Baron has suffered from this medical condition since he was very little. The uncommon ability to allow him to spontaneously recall- with great accuracy and detail- a vast number of personal events and memories plagues him to this day. While this condition may be helpful in some situations, such as his interesting line of...work, its also a burden he has to carry with him. He remembers everything. The wonderful times of his life, every conversation with everyone he's ever met, and the horrific, terrifying moments in his past in which he can only dream to forget. And with his ability to see into the future as well- he's plagued by past, present, and future ordeals that run through his mind, paying no mind to the rent fee.
Philophobia - The nagging fear of falling in love. It wasn't always this way. In Baron's early life, it was easy for him to say his "I love you's" and show affection. The older he grew, however, and the moment he realized that nobody could fall for a murderer- the thought became a mere particle. Baron is aware of the sheer lengths he may go to protect someone he loves and that fact scares him. Just how many people would he tear down to prove his love? What would he give up? What.... There was a girl. She had been everything in a time where he had nothing. He never got to share how deeply he cared for her before the woman killed the wife of who he put his loyalty in. And the fear- that had been momentarily stalled- came flooding back.
Stubbornness - This has gotten him into a quite a lot of trouble in the past. As the young man has never been one to go along with something he doesn't see as right or agree with, Baron has been a part of many different scuffles throughout his lifetime. He won't admit to mistakes he may have made along the way and he certainly won't change his position in something just because another person wants him to. The guy is a mountain that should not even attempt to be moved. Unless you want an avalanche- than by all means, go ahead and try.

Backstory:
Baron Elio Streiler has had an eventful life to say the least. Born in the Kingdom of Tyris, his early years were marred by tragedy and hardship; his mother died during childbirth, leaving him with an emptiness that echoed through his childhood. His father, a man burdened by grief and rage, channeled his anguish into a form of mental abuse, which shaped Elio’s formative years into a struggle for both survival and self-worth. As a teenager, he longed for escape, a way to transcend the pain of his domestic life. At sixteen, he seized an opportunity that would change the course of his existence forever—he signed up for the two-year training program for the annual Dragon Taming tournament, a fierce competition revered throughout the kingdom.
To his astonishment, he was accepted, and his life took a drastic turn. The rigorous training regimen was designed not only to forge formidable warriors but also to refine character and resilience. He learned to wield not just physical strength but the mental acuity necessary to connect with the dragons, creatures of immense power and majesty. The king, recognizing Elio's tenacity and raw talent, took a special interest in him, which brought both fortune and a heavy burden. While the king’s favor opened doors, it also cast a shadow over him, as others eyed him with jealousy and suspicion.
However, as the competitions neared their climax, tragedy struck. The queen, a beloved figure known for her grace and wisdom, was assassinated under mysterious circumstances. The news shattered the kingdom, and Baron was left reeling, grappling with the unbearable weight of grief and betrayal. It was not until he emerged victorious, claiming the title of champion, that he learned the truth—the very woman he had come to love, she was implicated in the queen’s death.

Affiliations:
Biological Father // 68 Years Old // Male // Farmer
Emmet Streiler is not a healthy men. There was a time in his life when he was doing...decently. When he met his wife. Her pregnancy had been a surprise, it hadn't been planned for- and therefore they weren't prepared in the slightest. Emmet wasn't exactly in an economic or mental space to have a child, so he really was distant from the start. Baron was born and with his birth, the only person holding Emmet together- passed. Emmet went down into a spiraling depression, taking it out on Baron throughout the years of his son's life- leaving the town to care for his child. Emmet and Baron's relationship is beyond fixing and his son attempts to avoid the older man at all costs.
The King [Adoptive Father] // 83 Years Old // Male // Ruler
This man practically saved Baron from his "home". When the young teenage boy entered the Dragon Taming Tournaments, the King immediately grew fond of him. A year or so had passed, a year where Baron hadn't seen his birth father- he had been feeling alright. King Lucyan and Queen Kacelyn never were able to produce any heirs and they were both quite fond of Baron, so it was easy for them to take him in as parents. The King had insisted in the title of Heir, but at the time- Baron had too much on his mind [Ilyana] and took the next position down instead. King Lucyan made it clear that if he should ever desire to take on the role of the Kingdoms next ruler- he is more than welcome.
The Queen [Adoptive Mother] // 79 Years Old // Female // Ruler
This woman's death broke not only the king but Baron. She had been the mother he never had; kind, welcoming, and compassionate- Queen Kacelyn had been there when Baron needed her most, a shoulder to cry on without even feeling judged in any way. As this woman had never been able to produce children, adopting Baron was a blessing from the gods. He had been her pride and joy to the day she was fatally assassinated. Baron swore to redeem the name of his adoptive mother when he took on the oath to bring her perpetrator back to the King. And he would do just that, no matter what stood in his way.
Cerus [Companion] // 183 Years Old [Young Adult] // Female // Standard Dragon // Dual Elemant Abilities [Water + Fire Based]
The relationship between both Cerus and Baron is most definitely... interesting. The whole purpose of The Dragon Taming Trials was to tame dragons while trying not to get fried in the process. Cerus attempted to kill Baron multiple times. The young man and dragon had known they were bonded the second he stepped into the arena- as the shrieking of the large fire-breathing creature had turned to a language in which he could understand. Which only fueled Cerus's need to kill him. Yeah, thats not the healthiest is it? The pair eventually fought off, earning significant injuries on both sides of the battle- coming to terms with each other while Cerus accepted the fact that she was bonded to this man. Their relationship hasn't grown much as of now, they fight by each others sides in exchange of not being killed or eaten alive by one another. Baron can't say he trusts the female... but he's willing to try- if she is as well.
Ilya Baker [Past Situationship/Complicated] // 23 Years Old // Female // Assassin
Yes. Her. Baron won't admit the lingering pain that came with the betrayal of this woman, she had wrecked him. Meeting during the competitions, these two didn't exactly see eye to eye in the beginning- she seeming to be caught up in her own head... which Baron took as stress at the time [Oh, how he should have known better.]. But within time and with the help of Baron's continuous teasing and witty banter, the two seemed to grow closer. It was apparent to everyone except her that Baron had taken a fancy to her. Helping her in training, practically saving her life multiple times [calling it even as she had saved his as well- as he hates to admit], and in the moments they were alone, sharing secrets and perspectives he didn't think he'd be able to share with anyone else... Baron was almost certain she felt the same. Until her betrayal. Everything they had built up felt as though it was washed away by the blood that had been spilled, and Baron's walls quickly were quickly built back up. (I can tweak this, but this is just how he sees her right now ^^)

~

Physical Appearance:

Liane holds the same beauty as most people of the royal family do, but hers is more of a wild-type beauty. Almost like an unpredictable wildcat. Another trait that sets her apart from the rest of her family, is her stature. She's much shorter than the rest of them at only 5'2" on a good day. She's always had a rather curvaceous figure with more emphasis on her lower body. Although, she's always been active, the more intense physical training of dragon-taming, and ultimately becoming a dragon rider, has caused her to begin building more muscle. Now, after 4 years of undergoing her training courses, she sits at around 150 pounds. Her body sports an overall toned look similar to a cardio exerciser rather than a weightlifter. She still has a very pear-like body shape, adding to another difference between her family, who all usually are tall and slender. Her base skin is a pale warm tone, but due to her spending lots of time in the sun on her dragon, she has tanned a little, with lots of... curious tan lines. Her skin has a faint freckling to it that's only noticeable if you're close to her face. The freckles are scattered across her cheeks and nose bridge, and along her shoulders. Liane has a few various small scars, many of which are 100% due to her own fault and her getting herself hurt somehow.

The locks framing her face are a vivid strawberry blonde, bordering on a glistening rose gold in the sunlight. It falls about midway down her back in somewhat messy waves, but she usually tries to keep it contained in a braid. Most often she is fashioning a simple, single lined, Dutch-braid, with lots of random fly aways that curl and dance around her face. Deep, emerald, green orbs blink back underneath soft, thin eyebrows that match the color of her hair, that can be hard to see sometimes. Her eyes have a slight downturn to them, with wispy-type eyelashes that get thicker closer to the back of the eye. Giving her an almost unique blend of "siren-type" and "doe-type" expressions. Her cheekbones sit high with rounded cheeks that soften them back out. Her face shape could almost be described as a heart if it weren't for the more rounding of her chin. She has a rather straight nose. With the front looking slightly upturned and the side profile having a strong, straight bridge. Closely mirroring Greek-type noses. She has full, pinkish-red lips, that are slightly fuller on the bottom lip, with only a slightly raised cupid's bow, giving her lips more of a soft, smooth appearance. Liane usually carries herself with a wide-eyed and curious expression, but the harmony in her features allow her to be an almost dangerous blend of alluring and cute at the same time.

Personality:

Adventurous | Sarcastic | Curious | Impulsive | Stubborn | Playful | Mischievous | Defiant | Independent | Unpredictable | Determined |Mistrusting

Liane was usually found doing whatever she was supposed to not be doing. Sneaking out of the castle, attending, well, *forcing* the castle guards to teach her combat, and pretty much anything she was told not to do. Her mother would often mutter things about her father, but Liane could never quite hear it and usually chose not to press questions about her father due to her mother’s hostility when he was brought up. Being a Moretti meant Liane had expectations put on her. It was her familial duty to uphold the family image and play her role diligently. If only someone had clued Liane in on that. She never quite grew out of the incessant need to be stubbornly independent. Always attempting to prove that she could do whatever someone told her she couldn’t do. As soon as she could, she pursued the dragon-taming training, despite her mother’s disagreement. Her bonding of a wyvern only seemed to add to her pension to do whatever she wanted.

Her training began shortly after the successful bonding. Liane was an intense student. She loved pushing boundaries, whether they were her own or those around her. Sometimes a good motivator, but also incredibly vexing at times. She’s excelled through lots of her training with her determined mindset. She practically refuses to give up on anything or anyone she believes in.

With her newfound role as a dragon rider, came a bigger sense of freedom. Bigger than one she could ever imagine. From being kept in a bubble-wrapped castle to now being allowed to soar through the skies atop a scaly beast; Liane had become accustomed to being in the open too quickly. So much so that she can become restless and quite antsy if kept inside for too long. Fortunately enough, her training kept her busy. If she wasn’t training, she was exploring. Taking it upon herself to try and visit as much of Paitan’s side of the island as possible. Helping villages when she could, checking out coastlines and neighboring islands and kingdoms, looking for apothecaries and herbalist.

Liane enjoyed her training the King arranged for her, often dealing with combat and poisons experts. Her natural adeptness to slip in and out of places with ease gave her a slight advantage, sometimes at the expense of her trainers’ sanity as well. She was a dedicated and passionate learner with an affinity for the poisons they had her dabble in. However, her defiant and rebellious tendencies often got in the way. A mock mission that should have gone smoothly, ending terribly because she was bound and determined to do anything she was told not to do. It would seem a life of being forced to squash herself down, behave, and never have an original thought, gave her an instilled sense of needing to express herself. Even if it is in unorthodox ways sometimes. Her determination and stubbornness pay off sometimes, especially when she’s using her tenacity to help a villager. But sometimes a discreet change of plans is needed in her line of work.

Overall, Liane wants what is best for everyone. Unfortunately for her, she is not aware of many problems going on right now. The royalty of Paitan has always tried to keep any conflicts, disagreements, startling news, anything, from reaching the ears of their subjects. The Moretti’s weren’t allowed to have scandal. They are even good at keeping things from members of the royal family themselves. Liane only knows what little she does about the current state of the kingdoms due to the King, who seemed to want to accelerate her training despite her trainers urging against it. If there’s one thing about Liane, she’s not going to make anything easy for anyone. Even the King.

Strengths & Weaknesses:

Strengths

Combat: Liane excelled at close combat. Her natural quickness and agility aiding in her ability to thrive in the environment of her training. She was mostly skilled with small knives, of which she kept stashed in various places in her outfits, especially her riding gear. She was not a heavy hitter by any means, leaning into her adeptness to dodge her opponents attacks and land small attacks of her own before they could recover from the effort of their first attack.

Poisons: Liane took a particular interest whenever her trainers brought up poisons. Ever since then, it’s been her hyper fixation. She was fascinated by the properties of many poisonous plants and even was able to study some venom extracts. Although she never thought of them in a harmful way, more just captivated by their beauty. Deadly creatures and plants often were adorned with bright colors and flashy patterns. It was captivating to see dangerous things existing freely in nature, untouched by anything that might want to harm it due to its poisonous nature. A trait she wished she could assume sometimes.

Escaping: Liane learned early on how to make quick escapes: Misdirection and camouflage. It's honestly surprising given how flashy her hair and usual attire is, how quickly she can slip from view. She had to learn quickly how to avoid any prying eyes, her mother, the rest of her family, the guards, anybody else that always seemed to be watching the royal family's every move. Partnered up with a dragon that also seems to be just as good about getting her out of places, Liane can be hard to pin down. Just as quickly as she gets into trouble, she gets herself out of it, even if it might've left a stampeding herd of pigs that ran right through a village...

Weaknesses

Inexperienced: Liane has been training for most of her life, spent lots of time on her dragon, and is an excellent dragon rider in all practical things. But her inexperience in real stakes combat, lack of knowledge about the political and social tensions going on between Paitan and Tyris, and unknown true nature of her training have set Liane up for failure. She could never know how much is relying on her, and her trainers and King worry if they reveal everything, she’d suffocate under it.

Stubborn: Who would've guessed the indomitable Liane Moretti would also be as stubborn as an elder dragon. Once she's made up her mind, it's hard to change it. Usually her determination pays off, or she gets to learn a lesson the hard way. Which she does a lot of the latter. Fortunately, her dragon seems to be an anchoring point for her. The creature seeming to be one of the only ones who can successfully make the difficult woman turn around sometimes.

Defiant: It would seem years of being told what to do and when to do it has made the dragon rider indulge in her newly found freedom. The perks of being one of the only royals to bond a dragon means she can get away with a lot more since they need her. She's not really sure what's so important about her training versus any other dragon rider, but she's damn sure not going to make it easy on anybody.

Claustrophobic: Although Liane thinks she has sort of always suffered from claustrophobia, it seemed to get worse after she bonded her dragon. After feeling how much freedom, she could have, sleeping under the sky, staring at the stars, fingertips brushing the softest of leaves, she realized how much she never wanted to be indoors again. The pompous balls, stiff small talk, upright postures, it was all so overwhelming, so entrapping, so suffocating. She would find herself struggling to control her breathing, sweating palms, racing heart, cold sweating, and even on the verge of panic attacks if she felt trapped in any way, shape, or form. If she doesn't have a quick exit route, she will quickly lose all composure and look for an escape route. Similar to a snake realizing its cornered.

~

Backstory:

Liane was brought up like most children in the royal family. Inside the safety of the castle walls with every waking moment planned for them. Her few siblings all seemed to go with the flow, but Liane just couldn't quite mold herself to fit in. She always had wild tendencies from sneaking out with the castle keepers to drink at the local taverns, bothering the castle guards enough for them to finally indulge in her curiosities about combat, to eventually striving to be a dragon rider. She never made many close personal connections. Even when surrounded by peers at the dragon-taming training, she found it hard to make close friends. Sure, she was good at making small talk and at least appearing friendly, but anything beyond the base line of interactions, she faltered. Whether it be due to her mistrusting nature, or the simple fact she got bored with the triviality of small talk.

After she successfully bonded with her wyvern, Aspis, her training took a different route. One tailored by the King himself. Liane should’ve felt proud, honored, anything besides what she did: Infuriated. Infuriated by him taking it upon himself to make decisions for her. From that moment on, she made every step difficult. She excelled at her training and teachings, but either disappeared before her trainers could give her an actual task, or she’d blatantly disagree with them just to watch them desperately try and persuade her. She listened to a certain extent, but not much passed, not getting banned by the King himself. Which would be unwise of them to send off one of their only promising dragon riders. Liane somehow subconsciously knew this, maybe it also infuriated her more that they only tolerated her out of needing to use her. Liane wanted to feel like she was being helpful, and usually wanted to do good. But she was going to do it on her own, not because of some posh, regulated rules set for her by her family.

Leila has always been a rather... jealous woman. While Leila and her family are considered royal, there is a constant power struggle on who are the more elite family members. The royal family is also rather large. Making it harder to stand out to the King and Queen. The current King's mother is one of Leila's many sisters. And her many sisters also have many children. There's never a shortage of Moretti's in the Palace of Paitan.

Unknown || Biological Father

Leila never spoke much of Liane's father. Well, any of her children's fathers really, but particularly Liane's. That also seemed to wound Leila's pride, given the whispers their family murmur about the true heritage of her children.

King Sebastien || Cousin

Sebastien and Liane only ever saw each other in passing and at family meals. Sebastien was 5 years her elder and had known he would be the heir to the Kingdom since he was born. He only seemed to talk to his own cousin once she bonded a dragon and even then, he would rather his council deal with her brazen nature.

Moretti Royal Family:

Liane usually kept her distance from most of the royals. Preferring to wander the gardens or mingle with some of the more talkative help. She always felt like everyone was judging her. Preferring to do things her own way. She cares for her family, in a way one would for a familial feeling, but she's not close with any of them. She's not even sure if they could recall her favorite color.

Aspis || Dragon || Companion || 110 years old || Female || Wyvern build || Venom Element

Aspis had always been a rather aloof dragon. Tending to stay near the coastal outskirts rather than close to the Kingdoms. This often led her to miss out on a lot of potential bonds. But one day, something pulled her inland. She wasn't sure what, but luckily, she had. Other dragons hanging in the area told her that day was the day the trainees would attempt a bond. She watched from afar as all the dragons did. Watching the humans do their frivolous traditional activities and shortly after, everyone was off to try and attempt a bonding. A few dragons leapt into action almost immediately. Others waited until they singled out the one they wanted. The flash of a bright reddish tinted color caught the wyvern's eye. Pulling her attention to a rider creeping along the sides. Almost hidden from view in a grove of gnarling trees. She almost got away with it, but Aspis was quicker. The wyvern dove with precise agility down into the trees. Swiping for the girl as she barely missed her leap away. Aspis didn't give up quite yet, even if Liane had chosen a rather thick grove of trees. Her wings batted at the trees as she attempted another swipe at the woman, knocking loose branches in her vision path. Liane took the opportunity of the misdirection to roll away, removing herself from swiping distance of the wyvern. In the zealousness of the red beast, Liane had a clear spot to take a swipe at her soft underbelly. But instead, she hesitated. Spotting a wound that still looked fresh, with a deer antler protruding just on her flank. In one quick movement she rolled under the wyvern, ripping the antler free as she went. The red wyvern roared at the pain but also felt relief. Whipping to face the young woman with a snarl. They both could feel the pull, the potential of what they could do together, but first, Aspis had to try and kill her.

Other:

Dragon:

Name: Dendroaspis [Aspis]

Age: 110 Years Old

Gender: Female

Abilities: Possesses snake-like fang protrusions which she can spit a toxic venom that stings and eats away at living tissue. Eating different plants can affect the potency and effects of her venom.

Height, Weight: 12 feet tall, 30 tons, long, slender wyvern build

Key Details: Wyvern build consisting of two back legs and two large wings that also act as front leg supports. Hook-like claws attached at the curve of the wing to aid in gripping. She sits low to the ground, with her body being built for speed and quick turns. Two short, backwards facing horns positioned at the base of her skull merge into a frilled ridge running down her spine. The ridge flares out along her tail, giving it a wider appearance like a gliding squirrel’s tail. Her scales are a deep hue of red with orangish accents.

Personality: Vain, allusive, explorative, observant

Secret:

Liane is unaware she is being trained as the King's personal assassin. She knows she's in training, just not exactly sure for what. At the moment she is under the impression that all draagon riders in Paitan undertake the courses she is currently doing. Without many other riders around, the King and her trainers can get away with keeping this secret. For now...

The castle was already bustling with activity, even early in the morning. Hushed whispers could detect the murmuring of an important dinner that evening in the Capital. The King, Sebastien Moretti, was preparing to head to the Capital early. His faithful council following his every step as they ushered down the hallway.
"Your grace, are you sure this is a good idea?"
"You know how... temperamental she can be..."
The King seemed to pay little mind as he hurried down the corridor. Their rushed footsteps echoing after him.
"Perhaps it would be best-"
"What would be best, Rolan?"
A voice caused the King and his small entourage to stop in their tracks. The council member, Rolan, an average sized man with a permanent frown on his face, flushed red as he clamped his mouth shut. Deep brown gaze faltering beneath the scrutinizing glare of the emerald green orbs daring him to say anything else. The rider stood at the entryway of the corridor that led to the outside courtyard. Already clad in her flight leathers with her strawberry blonde hair already a mess somehow. King Sebastien immediately moved into a polite demeanor.
"Liane, lovely to see you this morning. Great timing actually, I was just on my way to find you." He offered a somewhat sincere smile.
Liane arched a brow at his greeting. Rolan seeming to breathe a sigh of relief her glare had turned to be pointed at her cousin. Before she could speak, the King continued.
"There is a banquet being hosted tonight at the Capital. The royals of Tyris will be there and the council of the Capital. This is an important dinner with very delicate matters to be discussed. I thought it appropriate that Paitan's up and coming rider attended with her king." He attempted another smile, hoping Liane would agree without too much of a fuss if he allowed her to fly in on her wyvern rather than ride in with the rest of them.
Liane hesitated to respond. Just the thought of being stuck in a dining room with a bunch of arrogant royals made her begin to flick her gaze around to look for an escape route.
'The food could be good. '
The familiar voice of her wyvern perked her up slightly. With a reluctant huff, she nodded her agreeance. "I want to sit closest to do the door though." She folded her arms to affirm she wasn't willing to budge on this. Her cousin nodded his agreement to the request,
"I can arrange that. I will have someone bring some clothes to your chambers by lunch. Please wear it." Sebastien wasn't entirely sure she would, but he wasn't willing to argue about it at the moment. His mind was much too preoccupied with the elements of the banquet. Before Liane could open her mouth to protest, disagree, anything, the King and his few council member proceeded on their way they were originally heading.
Liane watched as they stalked off through the courtyard. An ornately decorated carriage awaiting them. She watched and observed for a long while, even after the carriage had wheeled out of the gravel path. Blinking to pull herself from her trance, she turned to peer up at the winding corridor. Those steps she'd walked almost everyday to reach the upper floors where her chambers were at and her training rooms. A sigh escaped her lips as she forced her legs to move from the spot she'd planted them. Trudging up the steps to attend her training for the day. Trying to push down the bubble of anxiety welling up in her stomach if she allowed herself to think too much about tonight.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The door closed behind her with a forced thud. Liane slouching against it once inside the safe walls of her room. Fortunately, after she bonded with Aspis, the King had agreed to let her move chambers to one with a balcony, large enough to support a dragon. These balconies used to be filled with royals and their dragons, but recently, Aspis was one of the only ones that could be spotted resting on the platforms. The sun had already begun its slow descent. Washing the valley in a lovely radiance of reddish orange. The ruby red eyes of her wyvern blinked at her as the scaly creature yawned from waking from a nap.
"Lazy." Liane rolled her eyes. Which earned a disgruntled snort from the wyvern. Aspis flopped herself over where her tail was laying across her face, covering it up in a dramatic way to ignore her rider. With a small giggle, Liane padded over to the vanity on the wall. Attempting to tame her hair with a soft bristled brush. Redoing her braid in hopes the flyways would be tamed for a short amount of time.
A billow of red fabric laying on the bed caught her eye. A lovely, deep, red dress that looked made of a touchable silk. Liane gave it hardly any mind, instead, stepping into her closet to see what she had. Switching out her usual flight leathers for a more decorated and ornated red tunic. The scaling pattern mimicked that of her wyvern's with delicately crafted pieces of leathers strapping around her in a harness-like fashion. She swapped out her pants for a nicer pair that weren't so washed out from use. She looked nicer than she had after leaving training, but probably not up to par for most Moretti's. But she was a rider, not a princess. Why should she look like she something's she's not? Would the King be mad? Probably. Did she care? Nah, not really.
'Please don't get us kicked out before I can try their mutton.'
Aspis raised her head, rolling over where Liane would have easier access to jump up into the saddle.
"We can always go find mutton somewhere." Liane chuckled as she settled into the saddle. Assuring everything fit comfortably for both her and Aspis. The red wyvern grumbled with slight disagreement, but didn't openly protest. Instead, she opened her wings, careful to not bump anything, and leapt from the balcony. With a few beats, the pair were coasting on a wind current that carried them swiftly to the Capital.
The last lingering pieces of the sun's light were her only guide as her and Aspis swooped in low. Lots of horses, carriages, and a even a few other dragons all waited outside in the large yard of the Capital's headquarters. She might've been a tad late, but who would even notice? The wyvern landed down quietly. Lowering herself to the ground so Liane could leap off. The rider's boots clinking against the cobblestone under foot.
Liane turned to face the large, looming building that was awaiting her presence. Lights from various torches and candles and fireplaces danced along the open windows. Chefs and helpers could all be seen bustling to and fro, trying to stay unnoticed. The smell of food wafting from the open doors made her stomach growl. Reminding her she hadn't eaten much today.
With her newfound motivation, she strided forward. Heading towards where King Sebastien had explained where the banquet would be held. It was in a much more secluded area than most feasts and balls held at the Capital. Only sporting enough room for the small audience it did entertain. The door seemed to be obnoxiously loud as she made her way through it. Making direct eye contact with her cousin as she slipped into the room. The faintest glimmer of disapproval washed over his expression as he saw her, but he tried to quickly resume the conversation to avoid any further distractions. Liane took the seat she had asked for, closest to the door in case she needed to get out of there. With a deep breath, she attempted to ground herself to the chair. Trying her best to focus on the conversations happening around the table, but her gaze kept wandering. Studying the people around her, looking at the door, studying the food in front of her, back to looking at the door.
She thought for just a moment, that she might be able to get through this dinner, until Sebastien nodded to one of the servants standing quietly in the corner of the room. Without so much as a single word, every single servant, cook, anyone who didn't have an affiliation with anybody in this room, left. With them, the click of the door behind her caused her nerves to immediately string tight. It almost felt like the entire air of the room shifted to something much different... less formal and polite, to secretive and almost sinister. They didn't lock that door behind them right?
