Plot

The god of the wind has annoyed the other gods with his antics and mischievousness. They are hoping that he learns his lesson by spending a little time around humans. He is not the most careful god and his whims have been known to hurt humans, but he does have one positive and that is his dominion over music. He has fallen into a small farming town and has taken the form of a human. He does not even remember who he is although he remembers his name. A human girl starts to help him, but they have to leave when gangs realize that a god is in town and they seek to control him. The god has favorite places which are known to have lots of tornadoes and the areas have a stronger cultural tie to music. He is naturally drawn to such places and wants to travel there. Will he remember who he is? What happens when he is put in dangerous situations?

Pantheon of gods

Primordial

Oeus (Nothing/void)

Oeus would be considered a non-binary god. If he decides to take human form on earth, he would choose a masculine form, so he is often given male pronouns, however, this deity is without form, so this god is without gender. Like many of the gods, he can take any form he chooses, but he has never been known to visit earth, so no one has a visual image of him.

Oeus is the embodiment of nothing. He is a great void. This god is the creator of the world, giving everyone a place to exist, and he represents the unknown. This deity is also known as the god of soul, spirit, curiosity, mysteries, knowledge, traveling, and adventure. The full extent of his powers are unknown. He is very old, and many humans have forgotten about him, so he is not a favorite to worship.

He is associated with open roads disappearing into the distance, books, wide eyes, and hiding places.

Tolios (time)

He is usually depicted as a wizened old man with a grizzled wild beard and wrinkled tan skin. Although, when he is in a more mischievous mood, he has been known to don a youthful appearance. He is known as the great scribe, the weaver of the grandest tapestry, and many fear him, because he brings on age. He is the one who escorts people to Erteus.

He is the embodiment of time. He is also the god of memory, fate, depictions, writing, recording, and fortune.

Some of his symbols are timepieces, eyes, and writing utensils.

He is rather predictable and steady, yet he can't stay still. He tends to be patient and even tempered.

Ianthe (light)

She is often depicted as a young mature (early-mid thirties?) tall slender woman with an even honey tan, shining blond hair, and golden eyes. She celebrates the continuance of life on earth by sending a rainbow into the sky after it rains.

She is the embodiment of light, but she also has dominion over justice, fairness, beauty, rainbows, color, summer, daytime, art, and promises. She can be harsh and unyielding.

Some of her emblems are equal weights, mirrors, sunrise, and lights.

She is a candid disciplinarian. She has high expectations, and she is reliable. She is hardworking and she is artistic.

Asohr (darkness)

He is normally depicted as a lithe dark skinned male with dark hair and eyes. He has a thick beard.

He is the embodiment of darkness, but he is also associated with thieves, winter, sleep, night time, lies, trickery, back-handedness, moon, and the phases.

His symbols are the moon.

He is silent and is often alone, yet he craves attention for his actions. He is untrustworthy and deceitful. He is cowardly and prefers to hide and not accept the consequences for his actions. He feels entitled to anything he desires.

Existential gods

Because they directly interact with humans and affect their lives.

Vaiuna (life)

This is a goddess, because females are known for creating life, and she is often imagined as a vibrant shapeshifter. She is very bright and bubbly, ready to see something new. She is generally depicted as a robust curvy woman.

She is the embodiment of life, and she is the goddess of love, spring, youth, and relationships. She is also the goddess of healing.

Her symbols are hearts.

She is very energetic and caring. She is romantic and excited for change.

Erteus (death)

He is often pictured as a tall muscular male with dark skin, hair, and eyes. He has a goatee, and he has a very sharp face. He often cooperates with Ydur and Kanyr for maximum effect.

He is the embodiment of death. He is also the god of war, plague, autumn, and pestilence, earth quakes, and other things of mass destruction and death.

His symbols are weapons and gravestones.

He is very fierce, intense, and persistent. He is heartless and cold.

Megaera (earth)

She is usually seen as a very curvy dark skinned woman. (the color of fresh earth) Her hair is dark brown and her eyes are dark green. However, her hair can be done in different hairstyles or textures.

She is the embodiment of earth. She is also the goddess of crops, woman, fertility, and animals.

Her symbols are plants, trees, animals, and flowers.

She is compassionate, kind, nurturing, but she can be very stern and severe.

Kanyr (fire)

Kanyr is a shown as a very large muscular male with a medium skin tone. He has fiery colored hair and lots of freckles. He has shining silver eyes and he has a thin beard.

He is the embodiment of fire. He is also the god of passion, metal working, feasts, famine, and theater.

His symbols are anvils, stages, and tables.

He is very hearty and robust. He can be moody and violent. He is insanely dramatic and true drama king overreacting at the smallest acts. He can be very petty. He is good at acting.

Drehta (water)

Drehta has long wavy silvery hair, pale skin, and steely blue eyes. She has a pear shaped (raindrop) body. Sometimes she is pictured with a fish tail and no legs.

She is the embodiment of water and has dominion over rain, bodies of water, running water, reflections, and marine life.

Her symbols are fish, teardrops, bowls, and other marine symbols.

She is vain, snobbish, and detached. She is fickle and elusive.

Ydur (wind)

He has dark black hair, beady brown eyes, and light brown skin. He is normally portrayed as rather slender and willowy, and tends to be of smaller stature. He is a youth and clean shaven.

He is the embodiment of wind, and he is the god of mischief, unreliability, surprises, and music. He has dominion over sound, vibrations, hurricanes, gales, and twisters.

His symbols are musical instruments and twisters.

He is reckless, sarcastic, and optimistic. He is a rather cheerful god and quite nosy.

World Building

In the beginning there was Oeus (the void), and Asohr (darkness). Oeus cleaved Asohr and light shone and he named her Ianthe. Ianthe and Asohr continued to remain cleaved. Ianthe had dominion over day and Asohr had dominion over night. With the exchange between day and night Tolios (time) was formed. Drehta the waters and the depths was divided by Megaera the earth. Next Vaiuna, then Ydur, and Kanyr and lastly Erteus because he happens because of consequences.

(Birth, war)

Full name:

Vincentina “Vinney” Killilea

Nicknames:

Vinney/Vinny, Vin

Age:

18

Gender:

Female

Appearance:

[Drawing coming soon mayhaps]

Vinney is fairly average lady of 5'8ish with nothing more than a slightly flexible frame to her name and the subtlest of muscles. Her oldest sister often jokes she's spent not enough time growing and too much time talking, but Vin blames her parents for not letting her do anything fun and adventurous growing up. She isn't completely weak or anything - give her a sword to play with and she'll figure it out fast enough with the right about of strength to heave it into the air. But Vin wouldn't win against many people in an arm wrestle - playing fair at least. If tricking your opponent into letting you win counts as a win then she's doing perfectly fine.

Her hair is essentially another being, being as unpredictable and chaotic as Vinney is herself. It is wild and untamable in dark red-ginger curls of between 2c and 3a. The red is a close mahogany brown but really very auburn, the light caught in it turning the shade to the expected colour of 'ginger' hair. She had much lighter hair when she was younger, but now at 18, it has darkened significantly.

Settled into the long sharp face are her brown eyes. Softer and lighter than her hair, they narrow and give her a 'siren'-like look. Her eyelashes are a little lighter than her hair, alongside her eyebrows which both are extraordinarily messy but in a pretty sort of way. They give her a down-to-earth type expression on her pale freckled face - one of a person who'd not fuss around with formalities or niceities and just straight up give you the cold hard truth.

Personality:

Vinney can vary in initial appearance: for one, she can come across as quite mild-mannered and (not that anyone who’s known her for more than a day will believe it) even somewhat quiet. With a calm and friendly disposition, and no drive nor need to get to the centre of attention, Vin does not find herself fighting to become immediately the centre of a newcomer's mind. Give her the smallest of excuses though, and she'll get going about anything; her voice is upbeat and a little loud, but soothing when it has to be and highly energetic when she's in the mood.

Alongside this is her incredible charisma. The second acquaintance view on Vin is someone with a wicked sense of humour. She’s the kind of lass nearly everyone can get along incredibly with, and if you don't - well - there's probably something up with you rather than her. Mainly due to her own peace with herself, she can take a exchange a banter or joke with whomever. The only fault is she can be a little too unserious at times.

Vin has also has quite the flirtatious streak; a woman of senseless charm and an endless stream of gossip, she has a knack for getting people to like her. Getting people to like like is a complete other deal of which she isn't as good as. While her flirt game never faulters, it's fair to say she can get herself all worked up and flustered when in the presence of someone she has strong feelings for. And - no matter how much of a cool collected face she seems to contain - Vinney cannot get past the initial flirty stage. She's very often all words no work, even if she does make efforts to show more physical effort.

The rumour is her parents supposedly desperately wished for a son – if her four older sisters aren’t evidence enough for this, then her name has got to be. If anyone spent enough time around her when she’s all pent up with them, they might think she was born a girl purely out of spite. And spiteful her nature can be – wherever someone picks a battle against her that feels way too morally corrupted or downright nasty, she'll spite them long after they've finally given in. Perhaps she can take it too far, but when her own moral code is broken, there ain't any going back to the way things were beforehand.

She certainly sounds a bit cheeky or even downright nasty when she speaks, but that's just due to the language she uses. With her opinions freely shared and no consideration for any sort of frivulous manners beyond the basics, Vinney tends to say anything she wants even if that involves cursing relentlessly in a sentence. She'll throw in a joke or a friendly bit of mocking too, if she's in that sort of mood - but can be counted on to lay off if it's not the right time. She might be sorta funny, but she's not stupid.

Ydur sat up straight and found himself lying in a field. He moved different body parts making sure everything worked, while surveying his surroundings. The field was of wheat, and he had somehow plowed a line through it as if he had been dropped from the sky. But that was silly. Humans did not fly, and there were no trees, buildings, or cliffs close enough for him to have fallen off of it. He frowned feeling a little guilty about the destroyed stalks. They were not ripe, and so they would never produce their grain. The farmer would be devastated as it was a decent amount and they were so close.

He found his attention captured by the waving of the wheat in rippling waves. After a while he jerked his attention away from the breeze rustling his hair and tickling his skin. The farmer could come survey his crop at any moment. If Ydur knew anything it was that he had a strong sense of self-preservation. He arose to his feet and quickly slunk into the surrounding woods out of immediate sight of any irate farmers. He found a path not long after wandering, and he began to follow it, hoping to find a village where he could figure out what to do next.

As he walked he had time to consider many questions such as: Why was he in the field? How had he ended up there? Where was here? Who was he? Where was he from? What was he supposed to be doing? The name Ydur popped into his mind, and he felt familiarity like it fit for him. "I do believe that is my name!" he exclaimed happily to no one besides the open road. Other than that bit of information his mind was pretty blank.

It was after high noon when he found a crossroads where there was a little inn, a campsite for caravans, and an area for trading. He headed for a group of people who looked to be trading. "Uh...excuse me," he tried to interrupt the trading. "Where is this place?" He then had a stupid realization. He had no concept of geography. Why did he care where he was? He rubbed his clean shaven chin and his eyes feeling a little put out that he knew nothing. Of the group that was gathered, he noticed that his skin tone was darker than most of theirs. Where was a reflective surface? What color eyes did he have?* It was unsettling to know so little about oneself, and he tried to hold it together while he was in public.

"Anyone have work that I can do?" He had recently looked down at his baggy brown linen shirt and khaki colored pants and checked his pockets for anything useful. Nothing. Not even a wind instrument such as a flute. Why did he care about having a lack of a musical instrument in his pocket? His thoughts were a mess, and he pulled himself back to his current dilemma. "I seem to be without money. I found myself lost, and laying on the ground somewhere, perhaps you could even use the word discarded. I would greatly appreciate assistance. I am willing to work for it."

Not really. He just wanted to be on his way. He felt the road calling him to find lands where there were flat rolling plains where he could feel the wind unimpeded. He also felt it in his soul that he liked to be on the move. However, perhaps his half truths would elicit more sympathy and they would be more willing to find him a way to get the resources he needed. "If you aren't willing to help me, which way would get me to some nice windy flat plains? How far away do you think they are?"

*(Also god's appearances are based on what humans imagine them to be, because in theory they can take almost any form they want, so even if he knew he was a god, he might've forgotten what he looked like)

Vinney had awoken far too early that morning, but she had sure planned to take advantage of it. She wasn't quite sure exactly what had woken her - maybe the thud of a wind-caught branch across her window, or else a fox barking down beyond the meadow - but regardless of what it was, it had succeeded in getting her up and irritably awake long before the rest of her family who were still asleep in the early dawnlight. And with that arrangement being such a rare occasion, it was one she planned on making good use of. Her own definition of the word good at least, which probably differed from her sleeping parents', because it meant doing whatever she wanted.

So, of course, she had quietly set herself up for the day - her movements nimble and calculated so as not to wake anyone else as she laced her boots and straightened her blouse - tiptoeing out of the house. If she was lucky enough, she could get all the way down to the campsite before afternoon and return home with enough time to get her chores done before the sun set in the evening. Her mother could need a bit of sweetening up after - she would hardly be pleased at Vinney's avoidance of the morning's duties - but that was why it was such a wonderful advantage that the traders were up and about lately. If her luck kept on, no doubt she'd find something either useful or pretty enough to satisfy her mother's tastes, and to weasel her way back into her mother's good books.

Truthfully it wasn't the traders nor their wares that Vinney personally found the most interest in. Certainly some of their items - trinkets with curious weaving histories or descending from faraway lands - could capture her wandering attention, but her main joy in her little escapade was the short trip itsself. Soft wind tugged loosely at her dark red hair as she followed the dusty path, her hands brushing the tall grasses boardering the farmers' fields. Though her pace was determinedly brisk, it didn't prevent her from pausing now and then - once to pet the head of a friendly sheep, twice to sniff some wild flowers, and once more to stare at a particular wheat field.

There seemed to be something slightly off about it, the growth pattern neat and orderly for the most part before being interrupted by a sharp irregularity of snapped shoots. She couldn't imagine its cause - not with such a strange destructive trail like this - but with a slightest frown made a note to speak with some friends. They would inform her if they found out what it was, and it's cause. If anyone else found out that was. Unfortunately at that moment she couldn't recall exactly which farmer watched over that plot, but no doubt she would find out soon enough. Between her own gossip channels and her father's ever present love of conversation, Vinney would have the information to solve the odd little mystery as soon as she wanted to. But for the minute she had a bit of a time limit on this trip, and so she continued on without a second glance.

As the inn and assembled traders came into view, Vinney shielded her eyes from the high sun. She usually recognised the traders there - some passing though year after year, some well known to her, other less so - and this time knew at least a few of their names and more importantly their usual types of wares. One of them was a complete stranger though, evidently not a local, or at least to her knowledge incredibly new to the area. She was good with faces, and so was completely sure she hadn't seen him before. So, naturally, her curiosity was immediately piqued. He didn't seem to have much on him in the way of trading, she noted that as unusual, and she squinted her eyes a little as she approached to take a better look. Or rather - more honestly - moving to catch the edges of a conversation between the young man and some of the traders. She settled momentarily one booth across from him and the nearest traders, glancing between some loose items and the conversation.

Her brown eyes narrowed and a barely concealed grin touched her features before she straightened out her face to vaguely-interested-but-minding-her-own-business again. The newcomer had said something about looking for work and - her luck seemed well today - she had precisely that. Now, how to get him to help her out with her chores, without getting her caught for slacking off...

His next words had her plans stopped in their tracks. "Windy plains?" She interrupted a trader (who had barely begun to speak) with a flash of a grin and a step towards the stranger. Vinney raised an eyebrow, her expression gentle if not a little confused. "If you're content with breezes you'll find something to your liking around here, but you're definitely in the wrong place if you're lookin' for proper wind." Breezes and softer winds from storms weren't uncommon about her homeland, but with their location being so inland from the coast and nestled between sheilding mountains and thick forests, the majority of the world's wind would taper off by the time it reached them.

"But work or money, that I can help you with. If you want?"

In the heavens above where the gods dwelled, they were gathering together for a meeting to discuss what some of them had done to Ydur. Oeus (void/nothing) ignored them as he usually did, having very little to do actively with the affairs of creation or of the other gods. Tolios the embodiment of time seemed busy in his own mind as he was overwhelmed by the amount of time that passed by in all of the places for all of the people and creatures. He was watching it march on, and it was hard to get his attention. They did not really feel the need to have him come to the gathering of the gods. They went to their marbled meeting hall with golden accents, and sat at the circular marble table in chairs. Asohr (darkness) was not sitting. Instead, he lurked in a corner that darkened with his presence. Ianthe (light) took a seat without hesitation once she arrived.

Vaiuna (life) sat down beside Ianthe, and they chatted for a moment while everyone arrived and settled down. Erteus (death) sat down at the other side of Vaiuna, but he did not say a word. Megaera (earth) seemed peeved that she had come late enough where she could not sit by Vaiuna. She made sure she was able to sit by Drehta (water). Kanyr (fire) sat between Megaera and Ianthe. After Drehta there were four gaps where Oeus, Tolios, Asohr, and Ydur could sit.

Ianthe, as she was also the goddess of justice, spoke up once everyone had sat down. Asohr even came closer and away from his corner. She continued, "We agreed to come to discuss the constant annoyance that Ydur plagued upon us, and we will also discuss if the decision of some of the gods if it was correct or reasonable. I know that Asohr, Erteus, and Kanyr were probably involved on abandoning Ydur on earth without his memories. Was anybody else involved?" She scanned the crowd for a moment. The three males did not seem particularly bashful and neither did they protest her accusation. Megaera spoke up unashamed of her part in Ydur's absence, "I have been complicit. I suggested that they ask Tolios to take his memories, and I also suggested a place to leave him that was without strong winds. It will take him a long time to rediscover himself. He likes to steal, so he was left with nothing except clothes on his back."

Ianthe did a quick mental calculation of who would've been for this course of action and who would actually be against it. Oeus loved mysteries and would've thought leaving Ydur without his memories intriguing. Tolios was complicit as he had taken Ydur's memories. Then there was the four who had spoken up or not during the meeting. The ones who had not were herself, Vaiuna, and Drehta. "It appears that only three of us were particularly against it. We shall let you continue to deal with him." It made Ianthe's skin crawl that truths about Ydur were being kept from him. Perhaps, she would send some of her agents to help him rediscover himself. She knew that Drehta would not interfere at all if she had not gotten involved by now, but what would Vaiuna do?

The four had taken Ianthe's announcement as an end to the meeting and they had left to discuss which agents would make sense to send to keep an eye on him. Ianthe let the meeting dissolve as Vaiuna started to chat with her once more, and she watched Drehta rise to leave. Asohr was similar to Ydur in a lot of ways, and she wondered that he was not more cautious as someday this could happen to him, if he pushed the other gods too far. She was a little surprised that Erteus had been involved, as he was one of the closest things that Ydur had to a friend. Erteus found ways to use winds for great disastors, which suited his goals.

Megaera was in charge of directing their agents to the right people. They were going to let certain humans know that a god was walking around, and he could be used to achieve their ends. Worst comes to worst, the gods would pull Ydur out of the situation and return him to the heavens.

They were coming.

~~ ♦ ~ ◊ ~ ♦ ~~

He felt he had stood there awkwardly for long enough, waiting for someone to speak up. Apparently, his half-truths weren't enough to gain any sympathy. He had thought he would gain curiosity and someone would question him. Nobody wanted to know who had left him in a field. These people were odd. Were strangers that unusual around here? Someone started to speak, but the trader was then interrupted by a newcomer and a feminine voice. He turned when he heard a voice parrot his words back to him. He made eye contact with her without blinking to emphasize his complete and utter seriousness.

"Yes. Windy plains."

When the eye contact was starting to feel long he let his gaze flicker to the trader who had been interrupted while he had started speaking. When Vinney started to speak, he respectfully returned his attention to her. "I'll be okay with breezes for now, but I would like to find a place known for its gales, waterspouts, or duststorms. Even better," his voice got higher and faster with excitement, "are tornadoes or hurricanes. I love to chase a storm. I enjoy the free feeling I get when I am around big winds." He closed his eyes for a moment remembering what that felt like. "To watch the complete power of nature," he opened his eyes. "There is nothing else like it."

"Eventually, I will move on looking for a place with stronger winds. It doesn't sound like anybody knows where that would be, so I shall have to wander without a plan," he looked away distractedly muttering to himself. He eventually responded,"I would like work and money. How can you help me with that? What do you need done and how much and how will you pay me? Is there a decent amount of work around here or shall I have to migrate onward in search of work?"

He looked at her a bit closer. "Are you important enough in your family to offer me a job? You look a bit young. I don't want to walk far away from my best chance of getting a job to not have one." He bit off the fact that if she had a big family he could be kidnapped for slave labor and never seen again. He did not need to be giving her ideas. Now that he thought about it, he wasn't sure how he could make sure that that was not what she was doing.

Vinny tried very hard not to laugh at the blatent seriousness of the stranger's face. His eyes - brown and bird-like and very much like an owl's given he hadn't yet blinked once - bore into her own and she felt a betraying twitching at her mouth. Stifling a chuckle by morphing her features into a tight grin, she took a sideways glance at the neardby trader who merely shrugged with a bemused expression, equally confused. This new guy was sure in the wrong place if he'd gone looking for wind... or apparently hurricanes? She couldn't imagine how he'd got all the way out here, given their location in what she would describe as the middle of nowhere. Someone, either an idiot or with a particularly nasty streak, had probably given him some majorly inaccurate directions. But still, that must've been a long way to travel without someone correcting you, no wonder he didn't have any belongings. She couldn't help finding herself taking pity on the penniless stranger, making up her mind to help him beyond just offering him a temporary job. Clearly he was not only very, very lost, but he was also a smidge confused too.

"Ri-ight," She responded, at the end of his spiel. Her eyebrows raised a little. While she wasn't sure about his passion for all things windy, she could at least relate to that last bit about watching nature's power. And yeah, sure he seemed a bit odd, but she could likely find common ground with him if she looked hard enough - even if her own interests were a little more 'grounded'. Or perhaps he could serve as entertainment - maybe a new friend? - for a few days before inevitably moving on, with his strange words enough to keep Vinney's boredom at bay for the time being. She'd at least get him some better directions, she could've sworn she'd seen an atlas or map or something at home somewhere. Likely belonging to her brothers, since she couldn't remember the last time she'd seen it.

Or perhaps she would not.

An intentional venom spiking her words, "Important enough? What do you mean by that?" she replied. She didn't like that distrust had seeped into his tone, and - not about to loose the most interesting thing she'd seen in weeks to some other trader here - she implusively pulled a few coins from her pocket and offered them in her outstreached hand. "I can give you a down-payment. You can look around for a bit, spend that if you must," she'd noted he didn't have much on him at all, and took a guess that like her he was probably getting hungry, "Hey, even talk to some of the traders, look for another job. But when you don't find one, come back here and find me." Her words alone might've sound arrogant, but her tone was even and factual. She might be 'young' but she knew this area well, and no one was ever hiring this late in the season.

He tried to smile placatingly. "Didn't mean to offend. You look young, and I've noticed in families someone old is generally in charge of the money and such stuff. Is it not like that in your family? I suppose I shouldn't have assumed. I didn't want to head all the way back to your place only to be rejected and have to return here having wasted time and still having nothing to my name. I am not familiar with what is normal around here."

He stared at her for a moment before realizing that he did not know her name. "What is your name?" If he did end up wandering around comparing prices and opportunities, he would inquire about her and her family to make sure he wasn't getting himself into a hurricane without an eye. Once she responded, hopefully with her name, he began to edge away. "Perhaps I should ask around to see what is a good price for my work." He really didn't think that was a good idea. It would just reveal how ignorant he was about work. "Or you could tell me what I would be doing and what you are going to pay me."

He just wanted to know what he was getting himself into, and if he would have the opportunity to save enough to progress him forward on his journey. He was quick to hide away the coins once he received them in his palm. If she hadn't been so obvious about it, he doubted anyone would have noticed where he had put them or that he had been given anything.

He looked around at the wares that were available. He didn't even know what equipment he would need to travel. None of it looked particularly appealing or something that he felt the need to must have. He did find the scent of some of the food tantalizing, but he wasn't sure if that was something he should be buying right now. What if there was something more important that he needed? He looked around for Vinney and pointed at the food. "What would you get if you had the coins you gave me?"

He headed toward the traders and into groups of other farmers, and he started to ask them one by one. "Would you be interested in hiring someone to work for you?" Most of them said no. A few of them asked what skills he had, and he wasn't sure how to answer that question. He wasn't sure himself. He'd have to be trained. Although he didn't know much, some of the offers were way too low. It would not be enough to keep him fed, and they did not offer food or a place to sleep in addition to the coins they would pay him.

He instinctively felt like he could not tell Vinney that she was really his best option because she may realize that he was in a corner and would have to take almost any deal she gave him. "It looks like I would like to work for you, if you'll still hire me." He tried to cast his gaze downward in a humble fashion with a slight bashful smile. Her words had sounded arrogant from earlier, and that her pride had been pricked. He fully expected some barbs in retaliation now. He was beginning to regret that he hadn't just accepted her offer right away. Just that might be enough to make her barter harder with him.
