Lunar Dragon | Male | Mentor's Dragon | Mentions: Veetahbi, K'issuk Ran [Ind.], Kaia [Ind.], Ixora [Ind.], Kuwaka [Ind.]

Draconic eyes narrowed as his rider practically, no did, double over in laughter at him, and he sneered at her, his front teeth bared in a snarky grimace. When she wriggled closer to the edge, he snorted and gripped her shirt like he was just going to toss her off it, rolling his eyes at her behavior as he held on for a second.

"You disturb me sometimes, Veetahbi. What ever did I do to deserve such a deplorable rider?" He snipped out, but even through the rigid set of his eyes, it was clear he was joking around still with her. Letting go, he let her back up into him and leaned over to blow breath in her face, before shaking his head at her. "Here, you have some dirt on your face," he said and then parted his jaws, letting his tongue roll out before dragging it up the side of her face. Sticky saliva drooled down his tongue as he did, and when he pulled away he snickered triumphantly. "Oh, my bad, that's just your face," he wrinkled his nose, and lifted his head as he let out a throaty laugh. He thought he was just hilarious.

He cocked his head as he listened to her voice inside his head and nodded gently, agreeing with her words. "I agree, their even temperments will make for good leadership. K'issuk seems to be handling the fire drake well enough, seeing as he hasn't tried to incinerate her or anyone else yet," he replied within their bond. He was keeping an eye on most of the valley, taking in any potential situations that needed to be intervened on. "It actually seems like most are doing well this time. No one seems to be stepping on too many toes too hard enough for a fight to occur, which is good. Better than our year," he commented, remembering the two dragons who had practically tried to kill each other. They ended up working out their differences over time, and the riders wound up good friends, but the dragons? Nay, they merely tolerated each other, their differences far too great to settle on common ground. [This is just some made up history, lol.]

His attention snapped to a rider being used as a play toy by an air dragon, and he lurched half up to his feet, ready to spring into action if needed. Thankfully, it seemed the air dragon was truly just playing, as the rider was returned to the ground relatively unharmed. Snorting he shook his head and clicked his teeth. "I should try that sometime, looks like fun," he blinked as he glanced at Vee from the corner of his eye, trying to gauge her reaction.

Violaceous eyes locked onto Vee as she turned to face him fully, announcing they should probably make their own appearance. Nodding he rose to his full height, and shook out his frame gently, letting any dust on his purple and night sky like scales. "We could look to join Ixora and/or Kuwaka where ever they are?" He offered, not sure where they were in the valley, but he was sure they'd be down there right? "Or perhaps Kaia if you want to check in? Probably best we give K'issuk a wide berth considering the company she is keeping for the moment," he offered, wanting to give her more than one option. "Or did you have something else in mind?"

As he waited he bent his right front leg so his shoulder was dipped towards her, which would allow her to more easily climb up onto the saddled that was strapped to him.

Keziah Layne
New Rider | Female | Mentions: Aalis Soile, Beatrice, Kenji

Keziah continued to stare for a moment at the beautiful dragon in front of her, her mouth forming a visible O as she tried to figure out what to say. Did the dragon just say she was her dragon?? Her eyes blinked wide, and she glanced at Beatrice, before looking back at this dragon. She had a dragon??

Her hand came up to over her mouth in disbelief, her brain still struggling to wrap around what was happening. She had a dragon. It still seemed like such a foreign idea to her! "Um," she started, her voice shaking as she struggled to find words, "My dragon? Oh, wow. It's very nice to meet you, Aalis," she spoke aloud, not even realizing the dragon's voice had come from her head.

Perhaps it was the shock, but it wasn't until then that pain bloomed in her head, causing her to cry out meekly, her hands reaching up to her temples as her eyes shut. She winced visibly as the pain passed from her head throughout the rest of her body, before it seemed to disipate out through her head. It took a few seconds, but eventually she relaxed and straightened back up, slowly lowering her hands, hesitant in case the pain came back.

The bond, she thought to herself as she realized what had just happened. Her hazel eyes lifted back to Aalis as she spoke in her mind once again and she gasped as she realized it, and nodded gently along to as she spoke. "Thank you, Aalis," she started, trying out that type of speaking and wincing when she sounded awkward and choppy in her own head. "But you're absolutely stunning. I'm lucky to have such a dragon, and I'm honored to be chosen to be your rider," she winced at how formal she sounded. "I'm sorry, I don't mean to come off so stiff, I genuinely didn't think I'd get chosen. I honestly hadn't even considered it," she explained, hoping the dragoness would understand. "Nava? Is she here?" She asked, and looked around, trying to see if she could identiy a dragon who looked like she could be related to her own. She had a few ideas, but none she was confident enough in to say something.

A soft smile spread across the girl's full lips as Aalis rambled about things, and she relaxed as she went on. She suddenly realized when the she-dragon spoke that she hadn't introduced herself. "Oh! My name! My name is Keziah. Keziah Layne," she offered sheepishly, a blush coating her cheeks in embarrasment.

Movement behind her pulled her attention back to Beatrice and she waved at her gently. "We'll find each other later?" She called out to her best friend, excitement coursing through her body. "Kenji, you, and I can all catch up about today!"

K'issuk Rán
Water Dragon || Female || Mentions: Beollan, Kaia
Indirectly Mentions: Genevieve

She had expected the fire dragon to be.. different than he was. She had expected a challenge conversing with him; a fight, but speaking to Beollan came surprisingly easy to the female. She had almost guffawed at her hypocrisy. Despite constantly advising others not to pass judgment, she had done exactly that earlier before approaching the fire dragon. Now, however, she could kick herself for doubting.

A slight smile graced her lips as he spoke about her characteristics, and it grew wider when he gestured to his own forehead while mentioning her light. "A peculiar sight, isn't it?" Amusement danced in her eyes, but her smile wavered slightly as she scrutinized the smoke emanating from his forehead once more. "Has that ventilation system always been a part of you?" She wondered if this observation might come across as impolite. After all, fire dragons, much like water dragons, exhibited variations in their anatomies. Perhaps, like her, he possessed unique physiological features.

Remaining quiet, she listened intently as he continued speaking, describing the sensation of the bond within his chest. She nodded in agreement a few times, opting not to interrupt and instead expressing her concurrence through silent gestures. She appreciated the opportunity to absorb his words, and found Beollan rather fascinating.

"You must give yourself more credit. Your social skills are far from lacking," she offered him a brief compliment, her tone softening as she seemed to empathize with his situation. "I can't begin to imagine what it must have felt like for you. If I lost my rider, I'm unsure of what would happen to me." She suddenly said, speaking softly. Continuing her eye contact, she proceeded. "Your girl, she sounded like a wonderful person." His narrative had stirred a gentle ache in her heart. The years of solitude he endured on top of everything else must have been truly sorrowful.

"What was her name?" She asked, pausing for a moment before quickly adding, "Though, I apologize if I'm prying. You're under no obligation to answer." Recognizing that her curiosity might come across as intrusive, K'issuk promptly excused herself, her voice softening.

"Regardless, the bond you shared with your girl could never be replicated," she continued. "The bond I share with my human could never be replicated. My point is, not every bond is the same, and that's alright." Her words tapered off as she observed Beollan's sudden frustration and the shifts in his body language. She watched as he stood up, nodding along as he continued to speak.

"This doesn't have to be a permanent arrangement if you don't wish it to be. You can leave after a while if you so desire. I assure you, I'll ensure that the Academy doesn't hold it against you... but I won't make that effort unless you give it a genuine attempt." Offering a sort of compromise, K'issuk took a step closer. "Why not give it a few weeks? Test the waters," a smile cracked as she threw in a pun, most likely the only one finding it entertaining. "If you ultimately conclude that such a life isn't suited for you, and if you're willing to endure the pain of breaking the bond, then no one will impede your decision." She studied him, taking another step towards him. "I give you my word, hm?"

With that, her tail thrashed in the air when he spoke of approaching, head tilting when he pointed out her position. "That I am," she spoke, raising her tail to her forehead in a salute. "Consider me your personal bodyguard. I will make sure nobody bothers you." Without another word, the female advanced, positioning herself slightly ahead of Beollan so that she could create a pathway amongst the crowd.

'Kaia,' she said, finally contacting him. 'Ensure that no human interacts with the fire dragon until he's comfortable.'

Tęgomir Venoušek
New Dragon || Air Class || Mentions: Shiro, K'issuk
Indirectly Mentions: Beollan

Despite the water dragon's warning, Tęgomir proceeded to act like a hatchling. This time, however, he kept his behaviour more discreet. 'Nah, you're dull, kid. Dull with a captital D-U-L. Dull." There, that would show him! Nobody tells Tęgomir Venoušek that he's wrong! Well, despite the water dragon, and most others he's encountered, but that was besides the point.

Huffing and puffing, he sat onto the ground, practically collapsing onto it. That is, until his human made an odd little meneuver. He jumped up, tapped him, and yelled 'Tag' before making a break for it. Any other dragon would have snorted at the sight, or perhaps watched with interest, but Tęgomir? Oh, he did love his games. So, without much of a thought in his mind, he had pounced onto his feet and broke out into a run.

He must admit, it wasn't one of his most proudest moments. Throughout the duration of the little game, he had knocked over a baker's dozen worth of people, slapping most of them with his tail, and accidentally causing two to fly a good few feet. Luckily, they weren't injured too badly. Then again, Tęgomir didn't wait long enough to see. He was busy.

Chasing after his human, he ran around, leaving more and more humans on the ground behind him. At one point, his mouth had parted, his pink tongue flapping in the breeze like a canine as he darted. 'For such a creature, you sure are quick on two legs!' Hey, maybe that was it! Coming to an abrupt halt, Tęgomir suddenly raised himself onto his hind legs, casting a shadow over a portion of the crowd.

Taking a step, Tęgomir kept his front hands out in an attempt to balance. Even his wings had unfolded as he tried his best to remain upright. Taking a few steps, his wings flapped as he did so, offering him a small boost forwards before causing him to teeter off balance and land onto his back. Luckily, he hadn't taken any further human down in the process, for most had jumped out of his way long before he approached.

Now upon his back, his wings and legs flailed in the air dramatically, similar to that of an upside-down turtle before managing to twist himself onto his legs. He waited but a second before continuing to run, picking up where he left off in chasing his human.

After a painful few minutes, Tęgomir had finally caught up. Rather than tagging him like a normal individual, the dragon had used his hind legs to boost himself into the air, hopping and landing upon the man like an overgrown dog. Tackling him to the ground, Tęgomir placed his hands upon his human's arms, using his talons to flip him over so he now rested on his back.

'I gotcha!" He hollered through the link, throat rumbling with amusement before stepping off of the man. Lowering himself onto his haunches, Tęgomir plopped back down and stared at his human, shaking his wings out before tucking them onto his sides once more. Curiously, he watched as the man picked up one of his feathers before tucking it into his pocket.

'Sheesh, that one wasn't even one of my pretty ones. You could've just asked.' Without so much as a second through, the dragon, flashed his teeth and tore into his left wing, hissing as he plucked out an impressive feather and let it float down to the man. 'Now that feather puts the other one to shame.'

Nodding, he cocked his head to the side to the point where he was nearly staring at the man sideways. He watched as a claw was taken by the man and shaken as he introduced himself. 'Shiro Bozzeli has a nice ring to it. Flows off the tongue, yanno? Shiro Bozzeli. Shiro.. Bozzeli. Bozzeli, Shiro.' Moreso speaking to himself, Tęgomir continued to speak Shiro's name like a parrot, enjoying how it flowed so easily. He barely had to speak it! It just whooshed out.

'Tęgomir is like Tugomir. The togo part means "strong" or "mighty", while the mir means "peace" from my recollection." Explaining his own name, his gaze remained upon Shiro, grin remaining.

'We're going to have such fun, you and I.'

Genevieve Caballero
New Rider | Female | 17 | Mentions: Other Riders & Dragons (ind.), Beollán & Ki'ssuk

The young woman was growing impatient by the minute, and she felt a restlessness settle within her bones as she awaited her dragon. A heating at sigh left her lips, and she looked at her fellow peers. Some were conversing with their dragons, others seeming to find an immediate bond - they were just plain sleeping, and then some were just being tormented by their dragon. And she had an ache in her heart, such sacred beasts, and she was there to see them in the flesh, yet her destined dragon hadn't approached. And she could feel something within her heart stir, a warbling of some sort - it was unsure and divided. Was this the Bond? Was it speaking to her now? And she looked to see the source, as it could mean her dragon was nearby and she didn't want to miss it - yet, she was disappointed to find that yet again, she was wrong, nothing had happened. But, there was something that had changed.

As she looked at the others and their dragons, her lips pursed a bit. And she couldn't help but feel a bit of envy - had she been overlooked? Was she not good enough, and she narrowed her eyes slightly as she stubbornly looked at the ground. No, she would not mope, she would not self-depreciate. She was a goddamn Caballero. And she wasn't giving up hope just yet, she was stubborn and it seemed her dragon was as well. Well, two can play at that game, she huffed inwardly with a renewed determination. And she gave a small hmph as she looked to the sky with a fiery determination. She didn't care if she and the plainest dragon on the planet, she just wanted to be bonded to such a noble beast, and she wanted to earn its trust and friendship. Who knows what it could bring for her - she just didn't want to be left out of such a special occasion. She was not going to miss her shot.

That's when something felt like it was clicking within her mind, and a mild headache overtook her before going away. And she found herself finding it hard to breathe at the approaching sight of a dragon. Her dragon, she could instinctively tell as the Bond between the two crackled and whirled before snapping into place with a finality that left the girl dizzy. And she couldn't help but look in awe at the specimen of a dragon before her, he was so handsome, and a behemoth. She had slowly walked towards him, but she paused in her steps and just admired him in awe, her hazel eyes - the golden-green, flecks within seeming to be illuminated within the sunlight as her eyes just seemed to shimmer with childish wonder. You're magnificent, she unconsciously whispered through the link, her words genuine and full of pride and happiness. And she then realized what she had done and decided to go continue speak.

Hello, my name is Genevivé Caballero, and it's a pleasure to be partnered with you, she said with a rare and genuine smile - one that hadn't graced her face in a while, it was a soft, yet simple smile but then she got back to a more formal tone, I am honored to be chosen, and quite frankly was half expecting to not be chosen by a dragon. I'm just honored to be part of such a sacred ritual. I hope . . . you find me acceptable to be bonded with you, her voice faltered momentarily, and a meek expression crossed her face, but then it grew determined , I know I don't look like much - but I got determination and much more, I will become a rider that is worthy of you. She said with a certain tone, and she gave a confident smile.

OH, she suddenly said, and she then got her bag and pulled out an ornate golden horn ring. I know most dragons might not appreciate human gifts or jewelry - this ring has been in my family for a while, it belonged to my grandmother's fire dragon - and it would've been passed on to my dad but he got sick before he could become a Rider, and so he gave it to me. And I want to give it to you - I hope you don't see it as a symbol of ownership, but of a mutual bond of trust and respect, because I greatly respect you as you have walked this earth far longer than me - and I hope we can have in the future, a good partnership, and she paused as she presented the ring and put it down for him to inspect and decide if he would like to wear it.

Uh, also, do I have permission to approach you? I don't want to be rude. She said meekly with a gentle voice, and gave him a look of hope and excitement. But then she noticed the beauty that was the Water Dragon accompanying him, and she tilted her head with curiosity as she looked at the female, Who's your companion?

Belvidere || Male || 71 || New Water Dragon || M: Kaisen, Arya (Ind)

The water dragon’s ears perk up at spontaneous burst of forced laughter coming from his rider, his tail dropping to the ground in the process. His eyes harden and narrow slightly at the attempt to brush off the obvious pain. A breath of air flushes over the boy’s head as he leans his head in slightly closer – ruffling through his hair. Though, he did not push forth on questioning. Some things were better left unsaid.

However, a chuckle does spur from his chest at the following statement – likely causing another rush of air to flow over the boy once more. “You’re quite darling. I can imagine how good it may feel to get that off your chest. Does seem quite tiring, after all. Especially with having to fight if you’ve had to fight for everything,” the beast offers him a sharp grin in hopes of easing any tension between them.

Honestly, the mystical reptile hadn’t been expecting much after that. He thought that it was said and done from there. But he was quickly proven wrong as Kaisen starts to talk once more, causing him to snap his own metaphorical mouth shut – swallowing the words he had planned to say.

“Do me a favor…,” the male cocks his head at the start of that sentence, curious as to what he was going to request, “don’t tell Arya…”

Ah, so that’s where he was going with this. Not much of a request, if the multi-colored dragon was being honest. Though, he could, perhaps, turn this into his favor.

Belvidere blinks, raising his head up to its natural position and straightens his head, “You have my word.”

With a grunt, the smallish dragon moves to stand – back legs pushing up while his front slightly grip the earth in front of him. Not enough to put dirt between his claws, but enough that he could get up. His tail swishes behind him as he looks down at the red haired before him.

“Say,” the spectacle of a dragon begins with another, wider grin,“I’m starting to feel offly dry and could go for a dip, right about now. Shall we head to the lake? We can talk about some of my abilities while we’re there, if you wish. Or I can answer any questions you may have for me.”

Yeah, that wasn’t true. Not in the slightest. A gift from that “humid” ability, that was – being able to last a decent amount of time out of the water. However, he did have some… other plans that coincided with the lake.

“So,” his pearly white teeth are revealed as the lips covering them lift up, “What shall it be?”

Beollan
Fire Dragon | Male | Returned Dragon | Mentions: K'issuk Ran, Genevieve

Flame coated eyes observed the female for a moment before looking towards his own forehead as she spoke. "Aye, it's peculiar, but it fits," he offered, and then nodded as he continued, "but yes, my vents have always been there, but this," he lifted a claw to point to the poorly healed section that connected his highest vent and the base of the fire colored ridge along his neck and body, "was not. This was an injury that did not heal right, so now it acts as a vent, except its always open to a degree, whereas I can close the others if and when I want." He explained, flexing the vents so they closed and opened a few times to show her what he meant. "They're supposed to keep me from getting too hot, otherwise I'd become even more unbearable to be around," he grumbled, though he genuinely would become impossible to even be near in general if he didn't let the hot hair escape to keep him at a manageable level.

His veered to the side to look at K'issuk as he listened to the dragoness speak. He snorted, and shrugged, "you might be delusional if you think my social skills are anything but lacking, but I appreciate the sentiment." There was a certain abrasive quality to how Beo spoke, raw honesty that while it wasn't intentionally rude, could come across as so with the sarcasm he often seemed to speak with.

His features pulled into an impassive mask, an attempt to hide any emotion revolving around his previous rider, as he spoke of her again. "It is like losing your wings. Or, I suppose, for you it would be like losing your lungs or fin. No longer able to do the things you enjoy, everything is a constant, seering pain that hurt even when you sleep. It makes breath come difficult, and everything seems dull and dim, like the vibrant colors of the world are no longer accessible to you. Words do not describe it, and I wish it on no one. May those with riders die with them," he stated bluntly, his tone deadpan, but he didn't need emotion in his voice to show the depth of his words.

He physically paused, even his breathing seemed to come to a halt, when she asked about his rider after complimenting her, and he looked at the ground for a brief moment, trying to swallow the massive amounts of remorse, guilt, and rage that bit angrily at his throat. He was still for a poignant moment, before he shook the feeling away and lifted his head.

"Evianna," he barely murmured the name, but cleared his throat and spoke again, "Her name was Evianna. She went by Evi or Evie mostly. And she was." It was all he would say on the matter and was grateful when she shifted the conversation back to the matter at hand: his new bond.

He listened quietly as she spoke, seemingly trying to come up with some sort of satisfactory compromise that would allow him the possibility to relieve himself of a bond, but also avoid being in negative standing with the academy and a dead rider. He wasn't sure if his rider would agree to such a compromise, but if Beo didn't really have a choice in whether he bonded again or not, then perhaps it was fitting if the rider didn't have a decision in whether he left and broke it or not.

He lifted his "brows" when she made the waters pun, yes he had caught, and he might have been amused in any other situation. Snorting, he finally spoke after mulling over her words. "If by giving a genuine attempt you mean I won't simply just eat her or turn her into a new type of crispy fish fry, then I agree. I have no intention of ever letting anyone ride me again, it would be dishonorable," he relented, though he didn't explain what he meant by it being dishonorable to allow another to ride him. It was a personal belief of his, and he had the mind to not break it.

He moved lazily alongside the she-dragon and nodded gently when she agreed to keep other humans away from him, and shook his head with a scoff at the idea of her being his 'bodyguard'. The idea amused him considering he was nearly twice her size, but he appreciated her agreement nonetheless. Not that he gave her any choice though. He would barbecue any humans that came around him who weren't his rider, and even that was questionable at best.

Speaking of his rider, her movement pulled her focus back to him and he let out an instictive hiss, but half choked on it when he remembered the deal he had literally just made with the sea dragon. Gods he was really getting old, wasn't he?

He felt the bond take hold as she drew nearer, and grumbled quietly to himself, his muscles tensing between midnight and flame scales. This is such a bad idea, he thought to himself, and shook his head, his calws sinking deeply into the ground until eventually he stopped and became rooted to the spot, absolutely refuring to draw any nearer.

He heard her voice speak in his head first, and his instinctively growled at the somewhat unwelcome intrusion. He preferred it now when his head only belong to himself. Beollan's tail flicked gently, the only physical cue that he had heard her compliment. He didn't acknowledge it verbally, nor did he respond when she introduced herself. It seemed, truthfully, as if the male had verbally shut down the moment the young woman had spoken to him through the bond.

Beollan did listen to her though as she spoke. On and on she went, and he found himself twitching as she went, growing slowly more impatient with each passing second. Truthfully, Beo felt some pity for the girl, for about a whole second. This young woman, this Genevieve, seemed excited and determined to be a rider, someone driven and, to be frank, kind of an over achiever based on her words? How disappointed she was going to be to be paired with a, as she put it, magnificent dragon.

He was finally about to speak when she continued on, pulling a horn ring from her bag, the golden band glistening in the sunlight. Now, he was a dragon. So the shiny caught his eye, and he followed to to where she placed it on the ground, only half listening to what she said. He did audibly scoffed at the words she spoke about it not meaning ownership.

"Like someone could claim ownership over me," his voice came through the bond in a slightly less than scathing tone. The idea was completely ludicrous to him, but he could recognize she meant it not to be an insult, without, yanno, acknowledging it.

His muzzle wrinkled a bit, smoke blowing out of his jaws, nostrils and vents to swirl around him to form a brief, hazy cloud before disipating once more. With a single claw he reached out, hooking it through the band and pulling towards him, allowing it to sit at his feet. Rather than loop it over his horn, he closed the fan on his tail and slid it through until it fit comfortably around his scales. He wouldn't leave it there, but at least it wouldn't fall off because of his fan even if it slid down.

"I am Beollan, human. Do not get your hopes up over ideas of grandeur, as you'll likely be disappointed," he narrowed his eyes on her as she asked if she could approach him and he bared his teeth at her in warning. "You're allowed within five feet. That is all," he grumbled, shaking the stress from his body then, the idea of human being near him enough to make his skin crawl.

When she asked of his companion he glanced to K'issuk and then at Gene and snorted loudly, hot air blowing out from his nostrils as he vents opened and closed to release the built up heat within him. "This is K'issuk Ran, though I imagine she is capable of introducing herself," he said, his tone a bit clipped, but it was more so for the generally predicament he was in, and not because he was genuinely annoyed she had asked him about the water dragon.

Looking away from both the she-dragon and Genevieve, Beollan let his eyes trail around the rest of the valley, though not really taking in anything he was seeing. Slowly the fire dragon leaned back onto his haunches, his tail loosely laid out behind him, swaying slightly to and fro, the golden band now shining on the dark background of his midnight colored scales, the rim of flame color dancing in the reflection of the ring's surface.

Kaisen : M : New Rider
Dragon: Belv
M: Belv
Kai's face softened into a real smile now, grateful to the dragon for promising him this. "She doesn't like telling other people about it. She's never liked appearing weak, she got that from growing up with our brothers. She'd be furious if she found out I told someone about what happened." He shrugged. "But I think it's an important thing for you to know about me." He paused, listening to the watery creature. "Let's go to the lake. I'm very interested in knowing what kind of abilities you have. I've always been interested in dragon abilities. They're all so unique and amazing. It's like magic." He smiled, brushing a few locks of hair out of his face. He was truly interested, but he also could tell this dragon greatly enjoyed talking about himself. And he didn't mind satisfying that in this case. After all, it would be helpful to know what this dragon was capable of for the future. 'In case a fight were to ever happen...' he thought. He didn't think a battle was likely, but he thought he remembered his parents mentioning that battle training was part of the curriculum at the dragon rider academy.

Isobel Escamilla

Dragon Rider - New Rider | Female | 15 | Mentions: Cryosphere (dir) Nava (ind)

Isobel’s eyes followed the ice dragon’s every movement, closely watching as he slowly got to his feet and began to walk towards her. The creature weaved cautiously through the crowd, parting groups with easily soft rumbles - his tail and wings held closely against his body. He seemed to... hesitate at each step, waiting for all the people to move a considerable distance away before proceeding. Issie wasn’t sure why exactly, considering the dragon could likely knock aside the whole group of them in one aggressive flap of his wings if he wished. That was good, she thought, at least the dragon seemed to not be one of unnecessary force or malice.

Despite that, Isobel barely hid her nerves as he reached her, his enormous figure standing directly in front of her comparatively small body. The dragon was at least three times bigger than her, and it took all of her courage not to cower or crumple in the shadow of the beast’s figure. Fiddling with a lock of her hair, she tried her very best to hold the steady seafoam gaze as he lowered his head to meet her eyes directly. Her bangs lightly fluttered in the cool breeze emitted from the dragon’s mouth – in that moment her fear melting away into a unique sense of calmness as their shared gaze was held.

Then, before she had a chance to say anything, the snout of the grey-blue beast met with her abdomen. A chill burned its way up her spine, mingling with a breathtaking jolt of electric-like power in her skull as the bond seared into her mind. She teetered on the spot for a second, then rightened her footing with her wide eyes cast in the direction of the dragon who soon raised his head back above her. She released a slightly pained gasp, but her sparking blue eyes only showed feelings of utter excitement. While she had very little understanding of the ceremony, she had overheard enough to know that this feeling was one of being bonded to a dragon. And that would make her a dragon rider, with this male as her partner.

Wordlessly, or at least in no language she could understand, the ice dragon seemed to inquire if she was alright. With only softened purr, Isobel detected a wave of his gentle concern wash over her – the emotion was easily identifiable, although that feeling of another’s emotion felt foreign in her ‘shared’ mind. She could feel the dragon’s consciousness close to hers, the thoughts and feelings just out of reach as if a forgotten word on the tip of one’s tongue. If she really concentrated, she seemed to be able to push her thoughts closer to the dragon’s consciousness – the words gently permeating his side.

I’m okay. She shivered slightly, more so in a flurry of excitement and nerves than the cool temperatures of the dragon’s body. The words – her own thoughts – felt stranger than usual, echoing around her head in the same sort of way one might hear their voice through cupped hands. Muffled slightly, and louder, much more alive or vivid.

Are you my dragon? Wait, sorry, that’s such a dumb question. I mean I don’t want to make assumptions, but I think it’s safe to assume... Uh, my name is Isobel Escamilla. You can call me Issie if you like. You’re an ice dragon right? She shivered again, her lips widening into a smile before her insistent chatter continued. Your presence makes me a bit cold but- She pulled her sleeves over her hands, waving them enthusiastically. Fixed! And I imagine when we get a saddle it’ll be like ice proof - that would be super cool. Pun intended. Isobel’s smile twisted into a light-hearted grin. You’ve definitely heard that one before, my apologies. Couldn’t help myself. Actually, maybe dragons aren’t inclined towards comedy? That’s with the assumption you’ve only been friendly with other dragons. That crystal one is super pretty... I think that’s her class? If I am honest, I don’t know much about you guys... as like, a species. I haven’t seen a dragon before, and certainly not this closely. What was your life like before you came here? I have so many questions!

She stopped suddenly, covering her mouth with her hands. Sorry. I don’t want to inquire if that makes you uncomfortable... Do I talk too much? I know some people find that annoying about me. Please tell me to stop if I annoy you.

At least she wasn’t saying any of this out loud – everyone else would be safe from her ramblings. Besides, the last thing she wanted to do was drive off her newly partnered dragon with irritating or unneccesary chatter.

Aziza Sterling|| Female || 18 || New Rider || M: Noellë, Seriko, Ra’d, Ryker, Nava (Ind)

Aziza hunkers down slightly as a weight is gently rested upon her head, one that succeeds the long snaking arms of her friend and a small chuckle. Her eyes shift from the dragon before up to the platinum haired boy, eyebrow raised. Her expression screamed ‘I’m trying to look tough here’ even if it was unlikely that he saw it. However, the motion did help her relax slightly. Perhaps… she jumped to conclusions a bit too quickly?

A puff of air suddenly washes over her, tickling her hair and likely sending a few of its length strands into Noellë’s face. A rumble sounded not far off from the group, but she paid it little mind. Pale gold eyes flutter back towards the dragon, meeting eyes a near copy of her own which looked in the direction she had come from. (Or did her eyes copy his? She was much younger after all.) The standing of hairs told her that there was a hidden meaning behind the action. One that she didn’t initially understand the reasoning behind. She could see the greeting behind it. But why would a dragon be upset- Then, it dawned on her.

Oh, how stupid can I be!

With a light dusting of blush, she looks to the ground apologetically, “Oh, dear. I really am a bit doltish, now aren’t I? Please, forgive the intrusion. I did not think to consider that this could have been the precious moment that it is.” The girl does best to bow within her friend’s grasp, likely looking a bit silly in the process.

What a way to introduce yourself to your friend’s dragon, sis, she could all but hear her eldest brother tease. Even if he was nowhere near the group.

Feeling her friend’s grip leave her form, she looks over her shoulder (blush now gone) to watch him motion to his outfit – a knowing look on his face. Ah, now I feel even dumber, she mentally facepalms while nodding her head to the tall boy in front of her to show her understanding. Of course, it was his mother.

Next, the brown haired girl watches as who she could consider to be her brother-from-another-mother tugs her sleeve and points to Ra’d. Her friend’s flailing arms were mostly ignored – besides for a soft chuckle that slipped past her lips at the display – as she settled on just staring at her dragon. Ah. Right. She left him to enter this scenario. He seemed to be staring at the other dragon in the area, likely uncomfortable due to her own proximity to him.

“How goes your day, my love?”

The abrupt words spurred a jump out of the young lady, not expecting another to enter the little huddle they had currently. Whirling around, she spots another familiar figure approach the group. Specifically Noellë. A knowing smirk crosses her face as she lifts up her chin in a high-strung manner. The kind that one would see on the most stuck up of noble ladies.

“Ryker,” she greets, “Fancy seeing you here. I see that you’ve even dressed… somewhat well for the occasion,” her head tilts to the side and lowers back down at the jab – smirk growing and eyes playful. It was a rather weak tease, but one she was willing to give.

However, the “noble” lady’s eyes were quick to widen (to the slightest degree) at the mention of them all bonding during the same year. Curious as to who his partner was, her eyes follow his motion. Her gaze landed upon what she assumed was a crystal dragon – a breed she had only heard of in her few years of life. A beauty too, with near pastel pink upper scales and lower ones a pearly white. She was clearly a bit uncomfortable with the distance she held to her friend, watching him awfully closely.

“She’s gorgeous, Ryker. I bet you’ll be having a large amount of fun getting to know her and her abilities,” her eyes settle back upon his sienna toned form, “Mine is over there,” she motions with her head where she had last seen Ra’d.

It was at that point when her whole world lurched as she was gently pulled away from the group. A small and barely audible gasp left her but she did not fight back. Pale eyes looked at what had nabbed her. It was Ra’d, of course, gripping the back of her shirt. He was dragging her away from her friends and the air dragon. Tension she didn’t know she held left her body.

“What is with me and not noticing you approaching,” the girl raises a brow at the dragon, amused at her own obliviousness.

Feeling his powerful yet light grip leave her shirt, she turns to face him. She goes to question him slightly – not angry, just curious – but stops as he proceeds with his own, unprompted reasoning for moving her away from her friends. A bit of embarrassment and guilt washes over her at his words, feeling a bit silly for not considering such things in the heat of the moment. All she could really think, in all honesty, was that her friend may have had a rather rough interaction with the dragon (which he had already proven to be false).

“A-ah. Right. Sorry. Didn’t… really consider that. Then again, I haven’t considered many things today, it would seem. Maybe the whole surprise event is just getting to me,” she releases a heartless chuckle at her words while rubbing the back of her neck, “But… thank you. For keeping me close to them, that is.”

Spinning back around, Azzy faces the two men in front of her – choosing to lean against her own dragon with one leg crossed over the other in the process. No more words come forth from her mouth, much more content with listening to her two friends likely bicker and possibly flirt for the time being.

“So, how exactly does this bond of ours work,” she asks her new scaly companion quietly, eyes remaining on the two humans in front of her, “Neither my siblings or parents have mentioned much about it. Besides the fact that we can talk telepathically (which I will be needing to try out soon), I don’t know much about it.”
