Completely understandable, there’s no shame in rehoming the Quaker's as well if you guys ever decided it wasn’t working out. The best your mom can do is watch videos and try to get to know the birds without pushing boundaries or touching them too much. Watching them can be fun and it helps learn their personalities too. Plus birds tend to want you more when you play hard to get! They become interested in what you’re doing and slowly wattle over, mine do at least and it’s so endearing. And millet is always a beloved treat amongst all small hookbills

Maybe eventually she would be. We got a lot going on right now and need everything to settle first. What with expecting 8 puppies, some quail, some guinea fowl, and some turkeys all very soon. Once we get all those settled in then we have to worry about setting up horse stables and padlocks to get horses and there's just a bunch we gotta do to get this homestead up and running before we can add pets.

I feel like there’s levels to owning parrots and despite their size, quakers are definitely high level birds. Their body language is all over the place and they’re very particular with people too. They’re so playful though, but I’ve rarely met one that wasn’t traumatized or had behavioral issues due to trauma or mistreatment from the pet store or breeder. I almost bought one before I decided on cockatiels, I’m in love with my tiels if it isn’t obvious haha

Quaker parrots need a lot of stimulation and parrots in a pair are very hard to bond in my experience. I had a Quaker bite my cheek in front of a customer one day, not for any reason, just because she was being cheeky. Honestly if your mom is open to it, she may enjoy owning cockatiels more than quakers. Quakers and conures are very territorial, bitey and high energy. They’re lovely when properly trained, but theyre like malinois. Tiels are so sweet and rarely ever bite unless they are super scared. The males love to sing and they’re very personal/snuggle buddies
Cypress Road
Sar They are mean no matter what. She used to have one named duke. He was so sweet. Then my brother let him outside when his wings weren't cut and he wasn't trained yet so he flew away and my mom got a male and female bonded pair. Even my mom is having trouble bonding with them and they bite her.

Eas Quaker parrots. Sorry slow reply. Dogs are being a little annoying

Also make sure you never react to a parrots bite, they are like children and react to any sort of attention. If biting gets reactions then they will do it more, even if it isn’t out of aggression. If they bite you when holding them then they need to go to their perch or cage for a timeout. All parrot breeds bite for different reasons though so that’s something to consider
Sarcophapup
Cypress Some birds are very cage aggressive and also little butts during bed time. I own cockatiels, pigeons, parakeets and finches and all of them are so sour when it’s time to go up for bed. The tiels aren’t as bitey, but the sass cuts into the heart

~☾~ 弦月の戦士 ~☽~ (Gengetsu no senshi) Hello! I'm Tsukiko, I'm female, I'm german, I'm an artist, I'm an ADULT player! Please visit my Art page: https://tsukikosakura.wixsite.com/sandys-art I'm really wondering about the somatic mutation and the chimera, that it is inherited to the puppies here in the game, because the somatic mutation is non-inheritable and the same goes for the chimera! Explanation: Non-inheritable color aberration somatic mutation and chimera The somatic mutation. An usually yellow animal has black hair, spots or streaks. These black hairs can be anywhere on the animal, they are not inherited, but arise from a so-called somatic mutation, a change in the genome of body cells. In the prenatal stage of development, there was a gene accident, the gene for yellow is wrong reproduced and it creates the gene for black. Any additional cell that results from cell division from this faulty cell will now be black. A very rare form of mosaicism is the chimera. A chimera is a single animal that is the combination of two separate embryos. It occurs naturally when two fertilised eggs combine very early in development. Effectively, the resulting animal is two individuals in one, it also has 2 Sets of DNA. Sometimes it can be impossible to tell a chimera without genetic testing, but in some cases the resulting animal will be a combination of two different colors. The appearance may be similar to the previously discussed somatic mutation, but is more extensive, about 50/50 of each color in random patches. 0 Comments |
