You can buy apples for mushrooms, or enter raffles that have apples & hope to win some through there. Apples are the only way to get expansions. I won 5 apples off a raffle the other day, which was cool since the market is so crazy right now.

yeah, i'm thinking i probably won't do much breeding at all until a member of the team gets around the age of 13. Then i have a couple game years to get a pup worth keeping and train it up

Yeah, but when your wolves get older, you'll have to train a new team as well. It's an easier transition when the older ones eventually die than it would be to start from step 1 again.
