I find they gain skills faster when I replay levels rather than just contiune on. I'm not sure why or if it is all in my head but it works for me.

And thank you, Gin is my first HERO and I just bred him so hopefully more HERO pups on the way.

Yeah.I think it's worth it to advance levels because eventually you start getting a lot more opportunities to gain BE.
