My wolves aren't social but all my explore wolves have 2000+ CP so

My guess would be one of the non-essential explore fields, such as social, morals, or wisdom. I say this because I remember failing the encounter when I was first starting out in explore a while back.

OR you only need a small amount of dominance to chase them off

I don't think it's dominance because I would have failed the encounter at least once. I have under 300 dom collectively on my explore team. Unless it counts your den dominance
