Biography One full moon night, a piercing howl of pain rang through the trees, carrying far into the night. The source of the earsplitting sound came from a concealed clump of ferns, where a she-wolf sat, giving birth to her first litter. However, it,was far from what she wanted to be doing in that moment. She was alone; the father of these pups had decided soon after the news of her pregnancy that he was not ready for this, and like the coward he was, he ran, leaving this she-wolf scared and alone, with no idea how to take care of these pups.
Thankfully, the litter was not a large one; it consisted of two small balls of slime, their wet fur plastered to their tiny frames. However, one of these little pups was not moving; she did not writhe as her brother did, she did not squirm, she did not let out any pitiful little whines of hunger or fear. Not even the tiniest rise and fall of the tawny pup's chest could be detected; the newborn she-pup was dead.
The mother wolf blinked down at the limp, unmoving body, a mixture of emotions clouding her eyes. She was unsure of what to feel. Relief. Disappointment. Guilt. Sadness. All of these emotions were present inside of her at this moment, though none of them stepped forward to become the dominant one, thus leaving her unsure of what to feel.
With a shaky breath, the exhausted female drew the surving male into the curve of her belly so that he could suckle, silencing the pitiful sails that had been escaping his tiny maw until then. She admired his gorgeous copper-colored pelt, but there was so love or adoration in her eyes. Only guilt for what was so come. Soon, the pup had eaten his fill. Suddenly sleepy, he curled into his mother and slept, feeling safe and warm next to her. But these feelings, safe and warm... They would not last long, for the she-wolf had a plan for this pup.
She was not ready for this, she conceded. She was too young, she was alone and afraid. She couldn't do this. Silently, she rose to her paws. The exhausted pup beneath her did not awake. Slowly, she buried the tiny form of her limp daughter, leaving a freshly turned mound of dirt to arm the spot where she lay. Next, she gently grasped the sleeping male by his scruff. Surprisingly, the young one did not awake still. Ever so carefully, she laid him carefully down, concealing him in a bed of soft ferns. Her eyes brimmed with tears, the guilt gnawing away at her insides. She knew the pup would surely die. But, no matter; she had made up her mind. She leaned down and nuzzled the sleeping pup gently. "Im sorry," she whispered. And with that, the she-wolf turned and fled, no longer encumbered by the duty of motherhood.
There the pup lay, sleeping soundly, unaware of what had happened. He awoke the next morning, and the pup experienced fear for the first time as he realized the comforting warmth of his mother was gone. His stomach rumbled loudly; the young pup,was hungry. His eyes were not yet open, and he was still deaf for the time being. The young pup was left completely vulnerable, scared and hungry as he wailed for his motber's return, an event that would never take place.
It wasn't long before a hungry bird of prey spotted the young pup, and rejoiced at the prospect of an easy meal. The hawk swooped down through the canopy of leaves, cruel talons outstretched to grasp the wailing body beneath it. But then, out from the bushes sprang a she-wolf... no, not his mother. A different she-wolf. She leapt and pinned the hawk to the found, snapping it's neck in one easy movement. She grinned at her prey, but quickly noticed the famished pup tucked into the ferns.
The she-wolf picked him up in her teeth and brought him, back to her packs den. "What have you got there?" The Alpha Male asked upon the return of the Alpha Female. She laid the copper pup down on tbe ground, still wailing. "I found him, abandoned," she explained. "And what do you plan to do with him?"
The she wolf closed her eyes for a moment, breathing deeply. A moment later, she opened them again, her hues sparkling. "We shall keep him,and his name shall be Saxon," she breathed, a smile creeping onto her muzzle. "This pup is... special. He will do great things someday... I can sense it."
