The fire now gone ash stains the ground as snow and cold start to come

little farther ahead, others walk,
when cracking echoes through the silence then the shock of icy waves

a wolf struggles to keep her self above the chilling rage, the others stop as if wanting to help
the wolf looks up and claws her way back when a call is heard of a small pup caught by the rivers grasp

she dives in with one last breath saves the pup before given up to rest

under the waves her head sinks never to return found later frozen and gone after the fire's warmth only cold remains so hard to stay safe
