Biography
They called her a goddess.
An unknown, untouched beauty that had graced their forest.
She walked the meadows and mossy trails with a grace unknown to any other creature of the Woods. She was a living piece of the Forest; the Queen. Her name was unknown to the humans, who simply called her “Moon Goddess.” But those of her kingdom, the beasts, knew her true name:
Euphoria.
It was easy to understand why she was named such. Her beauty far exceeded any others. Around her tail was the most beautiful, lush strands of Hedera helix, or ivy.
Across her lustrous pelt were rare flowers of the forest, known as Hybrids, beautiful, dusky orange flowers with a scarlet red center, along with silver freckles gracefully dappling the petals.
Then, tied around her neck, supposedly by humans, was a penchant different bird feathers; roadrunner, snowy owl, ptarmigan, toucan, and robin feathers; one of each kind.
And last, but by far not least, there, placed perfectly on her head, laid a crown. It was a simple crown, made of daisies and skullcap. Now, one who did not know her story may have found it odd for a goddess to wear such a simple crown, but their mind would quickly change if they heard her story.
For you see, every queen must have a king. And Euphoria’s king was a dark soul. Every man and beast cowered before him. Mankind had named him “Running Knife.” And his name?
Zacari.
If Euphoria was the beautiful, sweet, loved side of the moon, then Zacari was the cold, bitter, hated side of the moon.
His tail, or what was left of it, was patchy and matted. A sticky, mud-covered stump, the ever-painful reminder of why a wolf should never trifle with a badger.
His pelt was even worse. A bloody, dirty mess of brown fur, or what is now brown from appearance. On his back were two black, demonic wings, symbolizing him for what many perceived him as; a daemon.
On his paws, there were long claws, that terrified anyone who saw them, bringing them into a state of shock more often than not. A method he often used for hunting.
The worst part of all was his face; the only unseen part of him. He wore a bear skull cap over his face as a mask, the most terrifying aspect of him by far.
While Euphoria hater having to kill to eat, Zacari loved it. These two polar opposites were further apart than anything else conceivable.
Yet Zacari longed to love Euphoria, to make her his. On the night of the solar eclipse, he made her a crown of daisies and skullcap. She had made him a wristlet made of leaves. The two quickly fell in love.
They never had children. Rather, they ruled the Forest together, their subjects their children. And when Zacari died, years after that night of love, Euphoria kept that old, withered flower crown, and wore it until the day she died.
She was buried next to him, beneath the willow tree that the two had fallen in love underneath of, with the flower crown still on her head.
It has been hundreds of years since the King and Queen died, leaving their kingdom, yet their legacy still lives on, and will forever more, until the end of time.
