"My son." An older female smiled down at the pup, the young wolf looked up at his mother, a small smile on his face. His two sisters were outside playing, but he stayed inside the den beside his mother. "Someday mama, I will be as great as you." He yipped. "Yes you will." She said, nuzzling the pup, "Come with me, there is something I would like to show you." Kumara jumped up and trotted after his mother as they left the den. She led him to a quiet clearing where a statue of a howling wolf stood; surrounding it were many rocks. They padded over to a particular rock. "This is your grandfather, Magnus." She told him proudly, "He is the start of our bloodlines in this pack. We have been going strong for three generations now. You will be my heir as I was his." Kumara stared at the rock, wide-eyed. "What was he like mama?" He asked excitedly. "I never got the chance to meet him." She sighed, "But I would guess he was a lot like you." "What am I like?" Kumara asked, sitting down. "You, my son, are brave and kind and strong." She smiled, nuzzling her pup. Kumara smiled, wagging his tail. His mother touched her nose to the rock, "I love you." She whispered into it. Kumara copied his mother, she looked at him smiling, "I see myself in you." She sighed, "And that means that you will become a great battle wolf to serve this pack." "I won't let you down mama!" Kumara growled. He watched a grasshopper jump past, and ran over to it, jumping onto it, "I am strong, and I will protect my pack!" The pup said as fiercely as he could. His mother laughed behind him, getting up and heading back to the den. They headed there in silence. At their arrival, Kumara ran over and played with his sisters as his mother laid down to watch; beaming proudly at her pups. From that day on, he went with his mother to visit his grandfather everyday. He told his grandfather of his adventures, knowing that the wolf was dead, but was proudly watching over them...
"Come here my son." The old female rasped, Kumara stepped forward, his two sisters staring at their dying mother, "It is time for me to go." She sighed. "Mother, please don't leave us." He begged, she took her necklace off and put it one him. "All life must come to an end my love." She smiled, "That does not mean that we will be apart, for I will be with you forever. In the wind, I will watch over you." "But mother, I need you, we need you." He said, choking back tears. "No you don't." She sighed, "You are brave, you are strong." She looked over at his sisters, "They need you" Kumara glanced at them. And then looked back at his mother. He touched his nose to hers; it was so cold. "I love you." He whispered. "I love you too." She smiled, laying her head down. "My mother, my beautiful blossom, my Misaki." He said, laying down with her. His sisters padded over, curling around their mother as well. He laid his head on her stomach as it heaved once more. "My... Son... My... Daughters... My... Pups." The old wolf mumbled with her last breaths.
Kumara vowed to keep his pack safe, and live up to his mother's legacy. He visited his mother and grandfather every day. He soon surpassed his mother. Becoming the strongest battle wolf that Bluemoonvalley has seen yet. He had two pups, both girls, Shailaja and Nokomis. Shailaja having been born with a boost, she is now the next in line to become a battle wolf. He is proud of both his daughters, and would not trade them for the world.
