It was a dark night when Misaki was born. It was a night when life and death happened at the same time. She was born to her mother, Mor. The night Misaki was born, was a dreadful night. New life was being brought into the world, while old life was leaving the world. First came Misaki's brother, Nova. Then came their sister, Nava. They were twins. Mor and her mate, Magnus were very proud of them. Almost everything about them were the same. They both had the husky coat. A cream shoulder marking, and a black striped muzzle. The only difference was that Nava had half white ears. They seemed close from the start. They both wiggled around near their father. The husky coated wolf's cream cheeks and black striped muzzle was interrupted by white. He sighed, and looked at his mate and their two pups. Finally, Misaki came. She had cream cheeks, inner ears and tail. She looked the most like her father. Her parents were both proud. Magnus held the three pups between his front legs while his mate took a rest. He loved them all. And couldn't be more proud. Mor leaned on him. He touched his nose to hers and then licked her. She licked him back. He then looked down at his pups, and licked them each. Misaki sneezed, and then tilted her head upward toward her father. She couldn't see him. But he was warm, and she could slightly hear his heartbeat through her folded ears. She laid her head between his leg and chest. Magnus laid his head on his three pups, sighing. And Mor laid her head on his. "I love you." She whispered. "I love you too." He whispered back, "And I love our pups. Be sure they know that." "I will." She sighed. From that day on, Mor made sure to tell her pups how much their father loved them every day. The whole pack pitched in on helping the family. Bringing Mor food and water so she did not have to leave the demanding pups. They seemed to grow quickly. And then the day came. They were finally allowed outside the den. Nava and Nova rushed outside to explore the pack. "Pups! Pups! Stay close!" Mor yelled, but the pups were out of earshot. "It's okay Mor! I'll keep an eye on them. It seems you have another pup to worry about." Remus, the beta female assured her. "Thank you Remus." Mor said, turning to Misaki, who still laid in the den. "Misaki, aren't you going to go outside?" She asked. "Oh, no, mama. It's scary out there mama. I want to stay in here, with you." Misaki replied. "Now, Misaki. I must go out too. The pack needs my help." "But, mama!" "No buts dear. Come along." Her mother said, walking to the exit of the den and waiting for her to follow. Misaki got up and slowly followed with her tail between her legs. Her mother walked out of the den, and laid down in the grass. "Come, now, my pup." She said to the trembling Misaki. Misaki slowly walked towards her mother. The soft grass under her calmed her. "There you go, my beautiful blossom. It's not so bad, is it?" Her mother questioned. "I guess not." Misaki said, laying down beside her mother. It had only been a few minutes, when there was loud crash from deep within the forest. Misaki gasped and ran to the den. Her mother followed. "See what I mean?! There are bad things out there mama!" Misaki exclaimed, cowering in a shadowy spot of the den. "Now, that was just a tree falling, Misaki." Mor tried to calm her pup. "But what made it fall?!" Misaki shook with fear. "Probably a beaver." Her mother explained. "What's a beaver?" Misaki tried to hide deeper into the shadows. "A small creature that makes it's den out of trees." "It sounds evil!" Misaki gasped. Her mother laughed. "Come with me. I must show you something." Her mother said, beginning to leave the den again. "Is it a beaver?!" Misaki trembled. " No, dear. Come now." Her mother said calmly. Misaki ran after her mother. They walked quite a ways, until they came to a quite clearing. The clearing had a statue of a howling wolf. Around it were spaces about 3 to 6 feet long, marked by rocks. They walked over to a spot marked with an almost
