Biography Wandering Guardian stood beside the camp, his eyes scanning over the undergrowth. He was silent; watching; observing. Despite the cool and calm mood that had fallen over the camp on this cool summer evening, Guardian was tense. He knew that it was not his job to do this, but he felt that it was the right thing to do. He loved his pack; he couldn't imagine life without them. He felt, with every fiber of his being, that it was his job to protect them. He'd never be able to forgive himself if something got by him, and someone got hurt. Especially a pup. Oh, not a pup.
Guardian swung around quickly as something thumped into his back. "Oof!" A small pup looked up at him. "I'm sorry Guardian, I didn't mean to bump into you," he squeaked. Guardian chuckled. "Oh, it's okay, little one."
The pup stood up and shook himself off, but sat down next to him, looking out into the forest, too. "So, what're you doing?" he asked. "Watching," Guardian replied. "Watching for what?" "Just... watching. To make sure nothing ever gets to you all. I'd never be able to forgive myself," he explained.
The pup tilted his head to the side. "Yeah, but you don't have to sit here all the time. We've got plenty of guards and stuff," he squeaked. Guardian chuckled. "Yes, I know. But it makes me feel useful. I like to think of myself as, well, the pack's protector." The pup shrugged. "If you say so," he laughed, standing up. "Hey, me and some other pups are gonna go play. You should come!" His tail wagged back and forth with excitement.
"Well, alright," Guardian laughed, standing up and following the pup. As he laughed and played with the pups, he couldn't stop thinking: I'd never be able to live with myself if anything happened to these pups.
