Stop accepting me as your client if you can't counsel someone who's trans, has childhood trauma, has different religious beliefs than you, or who has obsessive anxious thoughts all the time. I legit went to a therapist for my anxiety being so extreme I couldn't stop thinking about death every waking moment of the day and her solution for me was "to just stop." Girl, be so for real, would I have come to you if I already knew how to stop it? |

| flor i have a friend who, on all accounts, is very kind and is not racist. however, she has no interest in politics, understanding social problems, and understanding that privilege is real and very alive. but she is going to be a social worker. how does that make any sense? |

| flor thats kinda how it made me feel LOL i was like bro. i am NOT boring. why are you acting so bored. that is the other issue, too, is that many therapists are not trained in certain minority groups but think they can still counsel them. and "racist" and "therapist" should not ever be in the same sentence. thats absolutely insane and deplorable. i hope i never interact with someone like that once i begin residency!! |

| Puddin, Omg, what a tool. That's not only so unprofessional but also just morally wrong. If I had a therapist like that at a very insecure time of my life, I would've thought I bored her to death and that my issues weren't that serious. Luckily during the most sensitive time of my life is when I had my one awesome therapist. All the others I just didn't vibe with or they could counsel me on only a portion of my issues but not all of it. Being poor and in minority groups makes it hard to afford a therapist who could actually help with most if not all my issues. The only good thing is that I'm white, so I haven't had to deal with racist therapists like some of my friends have. |
