Winter I usually have him on a harness, so what I do is remove him from the situation to where he can't see the other dogs, wait until he calms down, then return to the area. We've done this repeatedly and it has sort of worked.

Petri, yeah it's not too far from where I live but far enough lol
Winterfell
Flying Ahhh playful reactivity , do you correct him on his behaviour ie the vibration collar when he tries to play with other dogs or just firm no ?
TheFlyingKitten
Shy Oh! Nice! Winter I've tried a vibration collar that beeps as well. I tried teaching him that a beep means he's done well and a buzz means he hasn't, but that only annoyed him. And while he's reactive, it's not out of territorial problems or anger, it's mainly frustration that he's not allowed to play with every dog and person he meets. I took him to a dog park once, and he spent more time around the people than the dogs.
Winterfell
Flying That could very much be the issue , a dog that doesn't interact with other dogs and people see them as a "threat" therefore causing the reactivity , my border collie was the exact same and we had to get her vibration collar trained and she was able to be be around other dogs off leads and run in public areas she's since passed away from a brain tumour but she got so much better

Petri, I live in NC, I was actually in Greensboro yesterday lol
TheFlyingKitten
Winter He was in Greensboro, but now it's difficult for that to happen since I can't drive and my grandma works full time. I take him on long walks to get him the exercise he needs, but that doesn't do much since we walk in a residential neighborhood when it's calmer, so he DOESN'T lunge at people and other dogs.
Winterfell
Is he out everyday around other dogs and people ( dog trainer mum lol ) lack of socialisation from when he was a puppy can cause this behaviour
TheFlyingKitten
Winter I suppose that's true. He's so different from when he was a pup, though. He used to be so well behaved and nice. Now he's uber protective and barks at everything/everyone that comes "too close" to my room. I live with my grandma (had to move from Greensboro), and she shouldn't have to live with his barking and excited jumping.
Winterfell
Flying My dogs are pure working Coker spaniel and do not like to work at all , not all dogs want to work just because they are a working breed or have been bred to work

This guy has to grow up quickly, I'm excited to breed him with one of my girls~ -WP Click-

Dragonair He's a year and two months. Purebred Working Line German Shepherd.
Dragonair
if he's young he could probably be trained out of that but if he's old that's gonna be hard
Dragonair
@theflyingkitten have you considered maybe he just isn't built for work in general due to his demeanor? and how old is he?
TheFlyingKitten
Well, less a question and more of a question adjacent statement, lol.
TheFlyingKitten
Question: My dog was purchased to be an Owner Trained SD, but his demeanor is too horrid for that kind of work. He would work so much better as a PPD, but I don't know. He's so unruly and trainers for PPDs probably cost an arm and a leg.
