Tern that's probably the best best lmao- it gets pretty complex when there's a middle man when it comes to citations lmao Good luck on it though! ^^

fern heyyy im doing the same thing :'3 yeah i think i found a better quote so. im just gonna leave that behind and never think about it again

Tern that's fair. I'm in the Honors College where I'm in school, currently chipping away at a 3000 word thesis paper :'D From what I know, I think that since your source quoted someone else, you just quote your source. If you wanted to be safe, if it's accessible, I'd just quote the source they're quoting directly and leave the middle man out. But it seems like an older text, so that might be hard. The way I'd look at it would be to just quote your source, but if you want to be extra safe, you can cite it too in your citations if you can figure out more details about the text itself.

yeah im just wondering because i think i did the same thing (included the citation in my quote) on another essay and there was something about it but i dont remember what
Fernweh.
Then I would just cite that source and leave THEIR citation in the quote. You don't have to track down that source to cite it yourself.

yeah, if it's direct, I would. Better safe than sorry for plagiarism, am I right?

fern but the sentence was paraphrased, meaning it had to be cited, and i dont know if i need to put the citation in there too

@Tern If what they are saying is relevant to that article, I'd say yes because it's better to be safe than sorry, especially with direct quoting.
Eye of Eternity
journey right but if im directly quoting that specific sentence, do i have to put in the citation?
Fernweh.
Tern if you were to cut off the quote with "the blood..." then just quote the source from wherever you got it! Where you cut it off matters
JourneyOfWater
tern If it's paraphrased, no, but if it's direct, yes. (I believe)
