Prolouge
Clover sat on the edge of the lake, watching leaves and flowers bobble on the surfaces passing her small body. "Mother" she called out. She let silence wash over her. She soon heard soft pawsteps. imediatly she knew it was the big fluffy paws of her mother. "mother!" she ran to the big dog " look at the lake!"she pawed towards the big body of water. She heard her mother's soft voice reply , " Clover not long now and you'll get your adult name." Clover noticed her own pride and sat down and leaned against her mother.
Chapter 1 The Forest
Lake slowly crept towards the river. She couldnt wait to taste the sweet fresh river water. She remembered being a young pup. She vividly remembered her mother's soft paws agaist the ground. Every vibration made her feel relaxed. She could still hear her voice in the wind. " Lake you are still my little clover." Lake approached the river but ducked under the grass. She crouched slowly shifting one paw after another. She felt the wind through her fur as the smell of rabbit filled the air. she let all her weight shift to her hind legs. Time felt like it slowed when she pounced.When she caught the rabbit she brought it back to her den. She stored the limp piece of prey in the back of the den before taking a nap.when she awoke, the stentch of fox was drifting across the air. Since her den was low to the ground and hard to get under she saw the black, slim feet of a stealthy, sneaky, creature. A fox. She saw the fox lower its body. Slowly but surely. Then for s split second she thought of a dangerous idea. She got ready and.... Slid right under the fox's belly before ducking for a attack.She clawed at the ruthless animal. she felt the matted, wet fur clinging in between her claws.she turned to catch her breath for a millesecond instantly she felt blood trickle down her flank. She turned around and lunged for the fox's throat. Biting into the creatures throat. She felt the creature go limp in her mouth and decided not to eat the foul creature. She buried it instead. Imediatly after she calmed down reaching the old lake to wash her fur,claws, and mouth from the stench and taste of blood. Lake felt like a pup again. When she looked up from the lake she closed her eyes feeling the gentle Autumn breeze flow through her fur. When she looked back down, she saw her mother in her reflection.
