Evergreen, 6 years? And they still do it? I'm shit at remembering names but even I'd get there in maybe a year or two. Even my grandparents who don't really get it try to acknowledge my cousins new name (really it's just an extra letter, not that hard).
At this point, depending on where they are on the spectrum (confused but got the spirit vs outright ahole), I'd either call them a completely wrong name everytime they address you or outright no contact them if you're able.
Only you know what they're like and their tendencies just make sure you stay safe in the process
