Today I noticed that when I explore in Forest, even though rabbits and boar and foxes pop up, I can't battle them. I'm fairly sure that this is only happening to me in Forest and not the other terrains. Maybe it is a bug? Also, sorry if someone else has already posted about this.

You're going to have to restart the level from scratch to get it to work
