Rules
1. Eve (Sixbear)'s rules must be followed at all times.
2. LGBTQ+ is allowed here, I'll fight anyone who has issues with that.
3. Don't be petty if or when a character sheet is declined. Nobody cares for that stuff, just leave silently and with some dignity. If you keep being annoying I'll get a mod <3
4. Reservations last 24 hours, no more and no less. Reservations can get you an extra day if you absolutely need it, PM me.
5. You must reserve your own role, nobody can do it for you.
6. I expect 300+ words for the RP. I understand writers block and sometimes low motivation and you just can't get something amazing out, but try your best and we'll accept ya for it.
7. I expect active players. One or two posts a week, with consistant chatting in the discussion.
8. It's up to you to keep up with the rules so keep yourself updated. This will likely be changed at some point.
9. Include the word "Grim", "Mortifera" or "Scythe" somewhere in your 'Other' section to let me know you've read the rules.
10. PM me when a character sheet is done. It's hard to keep track of when it's done. Also mark it as a WIP up until that PM.

Reapers - Reapers may choose to have either a single name or a full human name, with a strong preference for the latter. Reapers can be either angels or recently deceased human souls who have found their way to the academy. If you hail from angelic bloodlines, you are likely here to avoid becoming a fallen angel. This is an excellent choice, as you now have the opportunity to surpass the status of a regular angel. However, you must be prepared for the challenges and inevitability of death.
While a humanoid form is preferred for reapers, you also have the option to take on a form inspired by another mythology. This diversity enriches the academy, blending various cultural mythologies and enhancing the unique abilities of each reaper.
Humans - When humans pass away and cannot be promptly processed by the angels of death, they find themselves at Mortifera Academy. Appearance

Mav is a rather unimpressive looking individual at first glance. He stands at around six feet, although he usually tells people that he's 6'2, with a lean and toned build. He's nowhere near being a muscular being, but he has definition to his body, and takes care that he looks nice. His skin is pale, and on his chest and hands, nearly translucently so, which occasionally leads to humans being concerned for his health, which only makes him laugh and laugh. He is covered in nicks and scars, most of them from stupid decisions he's made, but also from the more difficult aspects of his earlier life and job. The largest scar he has is a burn mark across his left arm, one that stands out quite a bit. The skin is healed, but forever marred with a dark, twisting reminder of this failure in his past.

He doesn't have the dark, brooding looks normally associated with reapers, instead, his hair is a rich brown, and the tips are nearly always bleached blond, as if he's still living in the 2010's. Mav's eyes are large and round, and his heterochromia is something he is very proud of. His right eye is bright green, vivid and the colour of new leaves, and a mischievous twinkle can often be found there. His left eye is such a pale grey that it's nearly silver, and has a haunting coldness to it. The odd mix of the two gives him a very strange aura, as if his dissimilar eyes are threatening to some. He has quite a few tattoos, most of them lighthearted and fun. He has a compass pointing south on his right hand, and a rope around his left wrist, as well a rose blooming across his abdomen all the way past his navel in an intricate and mesmerising design. Each tattoo has a meaning, and he is normally willing to talk about them, and is always down to get another.

His style is rather unassuming in his humanoid form, he goes back and forth between certain brands and ways of dress. Consistently, however, in order to not frighten his usual charges, he dresses in light, fun clothing, often with characters that the children know, or simply with silly designs to make them laugh. Occasionally he will also don sports jerseys and the sort, depending on the day.

When he is not on the earth, collecting souls as one does, he holds a similar form, but gains a much more superior look. He dresses in shockingly white flowing robes, almost more angelic looking than reaper looking.

He loves to accessorise, but only with silver chains, he can't stand gold. He prefers more natural additions anyways, normally wearing leather bracelets, or those woven of grass. He even has a few that seem to be woven of human hair.


Personality

Extroverted- Mav is known for his willingness to talk people's ears off, and that is true of anyone. He likes starting up new conversations with people, especially if they have ideals or morals that differ from his. He doesn't mind debating, but he prefers calmly and fully explaining, and then listening instead.

Outgoing- This trait is a good one for him. Since he so often interacts with children, being able to figure out what makes them laugh or can down is good, especially when they're having a tough time letting go. Mav loves to make the people he likes feel confident and at ease.

Loyal- Although not all the reapers are huge fans of many of Mav's ways of life, he still feels a huge sense of loyalty to them and their jobs. He would never talk poorly about a reaper, no matter what they would say or do to him.

Simple- Mav doesn't have that many huge issues, so his lifestyle isn't complicated. He stays mostly in touch with his family, is happy with his friends, adores his older brother. It doesn't take that much to make him happy or to keep him happy.

Childish- Everyone knows that Mav is quite immature, which is one of his personality traits that he's proud of, but bothers many others. He is always laughing at some joke, and considers the ability to stay childish very important. Although the children he interacts with will never be able to change the world, he still thoroughly believes in considering them the future of both worlds.

Perfectionist- Everything always had to be perfect. Whether he's baking, reaping souls, whatever it is, it has to look nice and go smoothly. He often looks back on what he's done with distaste, calling it sloppy and poorly done, although it has usually gone just fine.

Creative- Mav likes to keep his creative juices flowing at all times. Whether he's making up ridiculous excuses to get out of a pinch, or calling death by a different name to help a scared child, he wants to never lose the sense of being able to come up with a good story.

Blunt- Mav is very good at telling people things they don't want to hear, not because he's insensitive, just because he doesn't see it as being rude. Since people pointing out his flaws normally doesn't bother him, he tries to do it in return, but often in an overly blunt and sharp manner.

Dramatic- Mav is as dramatic as a teen girl during a breakup, and his emotions can often get in the way of making logical decisions. From getting distracted by a cute guy while on the clock to refusing to do his job because of how he feels, this trait often comes at the worst of times.

Lusty- Everyone knows that Mav is a bit of a player. He's often seen with different beings, and is always down for a steamy time. He tries to keep it on the down low, but his propensity for gossip normally exposes him.

Irritable- Because of his so called 'divine calling' Mav is often teased for only taking the souls od children, which upsets him easily. He won't hesitate to be a little more biting than usual when it comes to the way he feels, and especially if he hasn't gotten enough sleep, the simplest remark can set him off.

Charismatic- Maverick is known for his silver tongue and persuasive nature, which works on most students, and even occasionally the staff. However, he uses his delicately innocent tone to get himself and his annoying buddies out of scrapes.


Voice

The voice of this young man is often described as soothing and gentle, but in reality, when he's not working, his voice is slightly nasal and forceful. When he is engaged with a…client, he uses a lower version of his voice, which sounds less dark and ethereal, and more amusingly tolerant.


Strengths

Gentle-This young reaper is as gentle as a kitten, and even more so when he's with the souls of children. He takes great care to not scare or upset the young ones.


Easygoing- Mav likes to let the good times roll, no matter what that means for those around him. It could mean that he would be on your doorstep in five minutes, or he's linedancing, and your mental breakdown and/or death will have to wait.


Cheerful- He sees this as a strength, but many reapers don't. This boy is always smiling, and loves making the less effervescent reapers crack a smile or even laugh occasionally.


Silver-tongued- He sees the best in everyone, and loves to paint pictures with his words. He can be very persuasive, and occasionally for a good reason too.


Organised- Mav likes having things perfectly in order, meaning…where he can find them. Normally they will be in a half-reasonable place, but there's always one or two things that no one can find.


Transparent- Just like the glass and nature that he holds so dear to himself, his feelings are similar, always painted on his face. This can lead to problems if he interacts with someone he doesn't like, but for the most part, it helps others understand him.


Independent- The job requires not needing anyone else, and for the most part, Mav does fine with this. He talks to himself more than anyone else, so being alone just means he’s with the best conversationalist he knows.


Diligent- Although he’s a bit prone to be distracted, he will always finish a job. He prioritises getting the chores and hard parts of his life and job out of the way as quickly as possible, so he has more time to spend messing around.


Weaknesses

Clumsy- This young reaper, especially when tipsy or very happy, has the coordination of a puppy. He occasionally trips on the air, on his own feet, and hot boys he wants to have an excuse to talk to.


Distractible- Mav likes to stay on task. Not. He is always running off on side adventures, especially with anyone who he looks up to. He thrives on being with his friends, so if one of them even mentions something to do, he’ll be putting his shoes on.


Too focused on details- When he’s begun something, he goes on a deep dive into the backstory, family history, and anything else he can get his hands on. This has led to problems where things begin to take too long, and he becomes overly invested in the smallest details.


Extremely extroverted- This young Reaper has gotten himself into trouble time and time again for being too friendly. He’ll talk to anyone and everyone, and once he’s gotten going, he doesn’t shut up. He also then tries to spend time with too many people at a time, and feelings are hurt, though it won’t be admitted.


Overly Thirsty- Mav is a being who is very in tune with his needs, and spending time with attractive people really helps these hankering desires. He can easily be swayed by lusty words, and his opinions usually stem from those of whoever he currently has his eye on.


Blunt- Sometimes the transparency that Mav values so much in himself can be very hurtful and coarse when first said. He doesn’t take the time to think it over, and the way it may hurt someone, and his words can sting like knives, especially in criticism that was unwarranted.


Likes

Nature- This young reaper is very in tune with the outdoors, and likes to carry little pieces of it with him wherever he goes.

Lying- Although this is not a very nice thing to do, he finds great pleasure in omitting details, or twisting the truth to see how far his games can go.

Riddles- The mind games and puzzles that riddles offer are scintillating to Mav, and he enjoys the fact that the smallest words and details are so necessary to the answer. He also likes to memorise them, and share them with his friends.

The Beach- The movement of the waves and the soft sounds the breeze and water offer are something that Mav likes very much. His favourite activity is to wander the sand and search for shells and seaglass. Especially sea glass, he takes great wonder in the way the waves wear down rough edges and take away the initial shine.

Children- Both human and reaper children amuse Mav, he enjoys their carefree way of living, and their willingness to laugh. He prioritises taking children’s souls in the gentlest ways possible.

Heights- From high sloping ceilings and stained glass windows to standing on mountain peaks, Mav craves the rush of adrenaline he gets in the pit of his stomach that only these few offer.

Habits

Chewing on his lips- Mav is known for chewing on his lips for a variety of reasons. It started as a nervous habit as a child, and has just carried on through his teen and early adult years. Now, he mostly does it to be flirty.

Odd speech patterns- Mav has some strange ways of speaking, mostly because he picks up a lot of random words and phrases from people he meets. He uses 'right?’ To fill silences, and nearly always start his sentences with so, or um.

Pouting- A near consistent thing he does with his full pink lips is pouting. It was never innocent, although some people like to pretend it was. He can use it in a more innocent way, and often teases children with a more friendly pout.

Standing with his hands on his hips- Mav mostly does this to take up more space. He's self conscious over the fact that he's so much shorter than many other Reapers, and so taking up space to the side is the best he can do.

Using nicknames for everyone - Stemming from a childhood of rarely being called by his full name, he doesn't really do it either. Sometimes the nicknames make sense, sometimes not. And they change on the daily, though he will have some more consistent ones.

Fears

Tonitrophobia: Ah, yes. The fear of lightning. Mav isn't really sure why it frightens him so, but it does. He hates the flashing light and the arcs through the sky. However, he adores thunder, so during storms, he is very conflicted.

Agoraphobia: Isn't everyone afraid of being in a humiliating situation, or feeling helpless? Mav is no different. As soon as he begins to feel like he's losing control of a situation, he disengages immediately.

Autophobia: Mav hates being lonely. There's a difference between being alone and being lonely, and he feels it very deeply. The silence makes his brain start talking more than he'd like. He does his best to deal with it, and this is a less common fear of his.

Abilities

Animation of Corpses- Mav can, within reason, call up corpses and puppeteer them. This ability disgusts him, and he does it best to use it as little as possible. It is easier for him to animate newer bodies, and the aftermath is not pretty.

Adrenaline Dipping: He can share in the positive effects of adrenaline that everyone within his range is experiencing. Big on hysterical strength and disaster response operations.

Night Vision- Although it may not seem like that much, this is one of Mav’s only powers that he likes, and uses. Many souls are ready to be reaped at night, and he would rather not his clumsiness be so obvious, unless it is a child.

Calming Properties- Almost like an herbal tea or a sleeping pill, Mav can use simple things such as pheromones to help with his job. He is particularly fond of this power, and prefers it over all his others.

Limitations

Maverick cannot call up corpses in the daylight hours, and the older the corpse, the harder it is for him to call it up, and the shorter he is able to animate it. When the power fades, the body is left somewhat mangled, and is not returned to its original grave unless it is taken there.

Mav’s adrenaline dipping doesn’t work if he is under a lot of stress or pressure, and once it has left him, he is always exhausted and usually nauseous. He also cannot control when it does or does not happen.

Fighting Style

Koluchstyl is Mav’s preferred fighting technique. A Swedish form of Martial Arts, it combines the physical aspects of fighting with the physiological and spiritual ones. It is more of a sport fighting, but he is able to use it in a way that could be deadly if necessary. This form of fighting is almost fully offensive, aligning with Mav’s feelings on the aggressive tendencies of those around him. He also enjoys the focus on the mental and spiritual portions, training his mind on what is actually important.

Weapons

Maverick carries only a smaller dagger with him. It is a well-forged blade, with a razor sharp double edged blade, and a ruby red stone affixed to the handle. This weapon is usually in a small sheath that sits beneath his clothing, between his shoulder blades.

Maverick believes that it is his duty and calling to only take the souls of children, especially those with severe and painful diseases. He wants them to not be afraid of death, and often visits them before it is truly their time to go, so that the chance of fear will be lessened. He also does his best to give them the time they need, time and time again he hears them saying they aren’t ready, but he can’t always give them the time they need. He does not use a scythe, not wanting to add to the darker side of death, and instead uses the silver chain that is always around his neck, as chains are ‘butted.’ There is always one link that does not touch, showing the cyclical nature of life, and how lives are always intertwined.
