When he was younger he found his power and he saw that reading minds was harmless but talking in someones head or getting in there head was painful and deadly. He left his home for some death's he did. He found out that is the person was mentally strong he could talk them into some stuff. He was then taken in by police and he ran and left for he was being hunted down when they found out about his power. He promised himself he wouldn't use his power to do what he did only when he needs to. At the he keeps quite and doesn't say of his power but he likes to read minds here and there.
