She did know how to waltz, thank you very much. When Valeria accepted this thing, what she wasn't expecting to happen was to get sucked into a contest of let's-convince-Valeria-to-go-to-the-ball. And honestly? She wasn't entirely sure how they'd even gotten here.

But her slightly buzzed brain did manage to fall into place eventually, even as she fended her choice of "I'll think about it", because really she couldn't provide anything concrete could she?

Although she was tempted to ask why Shiloh didn't think himself a worthy candidate in the first place-

Nonetheless, once Penn dragged her new friend away on god knows what, she refocused herself. She'd been invited here to discuss... Izzy's case. And it seemed that the time was... well, now.

The wine didn't make thinking of this any easier either. Damn those publicists.

"I think..." she trailed off as she considered Shiloh's statement, leaning onto the table and propping herself up with an elbow. Not the best manners, but then the wine had her slightly buzzed still and she honestly couldn't care. "I think... Figuring out what happened." She hesitated, briefly scanning the room - the old lady that had given them the death glare had long left - before continuing. "I mean, just... grapefruit. Seriously?" She shook her head. "There's no way she would have done that. She knows- knew- better than that."

The past tense always tripped her up. It did so again.

"I just... if I'm being honest, I really haven't looked in-depth at the police documents. I just... couldn't." She looked down slightly as she said that - well aware that this put her at a slight disadvantage.

But she couldn't. She simply couldn't bring herself to look at the police documents - the wound was just too raw for that. She still couldn't bear to look at it. What it meant.

Isadora C. Whitney. Tragic accident of an accidental misuse of prescribed anti-depressants. High levels of grapefruit found in her blood sample, which-

That was about as far as she'd gotten before she had had to look away, the day that she'd learned about it.

She'd never forget it. The way Izzy's father had appeared on her doorstep, hair rumpled for the first time she'd ever seen it. The way his mouth had moved even as she stopped hearing the words.

The feeling of simply falling, Izzy's father's mouth still moving, and the refusal that came with it.

The way the sun had been shining, and how

how it had all fallen apart in seconds.

That fast, she was back in her hole that the wine only made slightly smaller.

Fighting it, though, she managed to sit back in her chair, shoulders only slightly more slumped. "Figuring out what exactly occured is probably something we'd have to do first. I mean, besides... what they say at least." She took a breath before continuing. "Izzy would have known what to not eat. She'd never have done it, not in a million years. There was no way this could have been voluntary."

There it was. The words she'd never voiced, afaid of the consequences, but kept feeling.

There was no way she would have done this.

"You understand, right?" A slight tinge of worry touched those words - if they didn't, it was game over before they'd even started. "There just has to be a factor involved." She paused before admitting it. "I'm going off my gut instinct here. I haven't looked at the police records yet, but the Izzy that I spent the best part of a decade being best friends with... she wouldn't." The police had never interviewed her, Izzy's best friend for a decade. They never asked her a single question.

She voiced it as such. "And the police never actually asked me a single thing. Me, her best friend for a decade." Alright, it might have sounded a bit stuck-up, but it was truth. "And they arrived at the conclusion without asking me." Even then, her mind tied it to Shiloh's words - barely any witness statements. She'd never said a word on record to them.

Now she wondered if she should have.

But her rant done, she exhaled and turned to the two of them. "I mean... you tell me. You've looked at the records... more extensively than I have, right?"
