I stut the book with a flourish. I freeze like a deer in headlights. Tell me Lucifer did hear me close the book. It was loud. Now I got to get a new one. The gears in my brain slowly grind to halt. I have to learn to be an adult. Thomas isn't there to take care of stuff. Like paying library fees. I don't want to be an adult.

I gently put the book down while my brain works. Now that Thomas is out of the picture, I really have to be an adult. Hold down a paying job, make a budget, make non-defensive small talk. I make sure the book will not fall and sit on the bed, mind still reeling. I should go to sleep. But I do not think I can. The thoughts are playing ping pong in my head.but I still pull off my shoes and lay down. Nope, sleep is no where to be scene. Oh wait, there it is. One of the joys of working in firehouse is that I can fall asleep with minutes. I also wake up to the slightest sound.
