Locations

-The Obscure Fields -
A big, open field that stretches for miles and miles. there is nothing but grass here. There are dire wolves that live in these areas, but they do not live in packs or work together. they will attack passerbys so not many people risk it unless they have sufficent protection.

-The Merciless Isles -
A series of small islands. Thieves and other shady figures tend to hang around the fishing towns that inhabit the islands, and passage thru is usually deemed unwise since there is a high chance that you will be robbed.

-The Iron Sanctum -
A large temple that also serves as a home for its worshippers. Monks live here. many tourists/people from other kingdoms like to flock here, as it is considered a fairly famous landmark.

-The Elder Lands -
These mountains are the origin of the kingdom, hence the oldest place in the land. forest elves live here and are fairly territorial. if you are not simply passing through the mountains, they most likely will not allow you to stay for very long.

-The Frozen Nexus -
Similar to the Obscure Fields, but the temperature is lethally cold and inhabitable. not many living thinsg reside here, it is mostly used for banishment.

Religions Within Both Countries
- Followers of Twilight -
Vampires, Moon Elves, Goblins, Sorcerers, and Sirens are primarily the target for this religion. they believe that the world is better off masked in darkness and despise Sun Elves. They preach neutrality and peace among all races.

- Oracles of Sunlight -
Sun Elves, Mermaids and Faeries follow this religion. it is the belief that war is inevitable and, sometimes, needed. Sun elves follow this religion particularly intensely and are known to evangelize for constant sunlight and the necessity of war.

- Gathering of the Burning Crown -
This religion is more secular than the others. its primary belief is that the king and his kingdom are corrupt and works to thwart his influence and eventually overthrow him.

Name: Kaelix Moornbaird

Age: 27

Gender: Male

Species: Dhampir

Apperance:

Standing at 5'11", Kaelix is a rough around the edges looking guy. With his long dark brown hair, cut into a haphazard style, and his equally dark eyes with persistent circles beneath them. His skin is a soft beige with a splatter of freckles across the bridge of his nose and to a lesser extent his cheeks.

Built lean, Kaelix is a lanky man with long limbs and a long torso. Whilst he isn't weak, he most certainly does not look overwhelmingly strong.

Personality:

A rogueish type, nomadic as he travels to serve his master. Prefers to be alone more for the comfort that he doesn't have to make sure his partner/s are keeping themselves alive.

Other:

An apprentice of the great sorcerer Malofesto of the house Moornbaird. Malofesto is his uncle, unrelated by blood, but still taken as an apprentice due to the lack of other familial options. Malofesto is a human, his aunt's husband.

His mother died giving birth to him due to the strain it placed on her human body to house a vampiric offspring.

He has a black pinto mustang mare by the name of Diamond.

The sun was barely past the horizon when the guild servants woke Reese. She squinted into the darkness of her room, trying to get her bearings. They were signing something, but she was too sleepy to process it, sitting up slowly and yawning while she stretched and cracked her joints. When she could finally focus her eyes on their hands, she realized they were saying that her boss had requested her presence.
She couldn't imagine what he would want from her on her only day off a week, but she supposed she should go anyway if she wanted to keep her apprenticeship. She got dressed and ran a brush through her hair a few times before hurrying down to the main hall, where most meetings were held. She wore a light blue dress and some white sandals.
Upon arriving, she discovered that she was the first person to do so. Was anyone else even coming? She bowed her head respectfully at her boss and stood with her hands clasped behind her back as she waited- either for him to start speaking or for someone else to arrive. He looked tired as well, and she wondered what was so important that they had to be up so early.

He had travelled for beyond a week, traipsing through the forests beside his master’s mount. The steady hoof falls of their horses were the only sound for most of the day’s journey, then little words were shared as they set up each night, and repeated. Malofesto had not told him why they were travelling so far, not even an inkling as to the purpose for the discomfort of riding for days on end. It was a relief when the spires of the town came into view, salvation from his suffering. That was until he was told to set up camp outside of the town, the soft beds were so close, yet so far. He had another night of rocks poking into his back and bruising his skin.

At least when Kaelix ventured alone, he treated himself to an inn every other night, but his master thought that would be a waste of time. Apparently, this was a time sensitive matter.

When dawn broke, the sweet scent of dew in the morning light was the first thing to greet Kaelix as he struggled to pull himself from his poorly made tent. The next thing was Diamond, the patchwork mare were idly moving across a patch of cover and crunching the crisp leaves for her breakfast. He wished he could’ve stayed there with his steed, but Malofesto left no time to potter about.

Within minutes, Kaelix was dressed in his usual eclectic collection of tattered fabrics, all towards the black and brown persuasion. He fixed the tie of the fur cape around his shoulders as he trotted after Malofesto who set a cruel pace. Entering the town, his master seemed to know exactly where he was going, he must have been here before. Unsurprising, the Moonbaird lineage of mages were nomadic by nature.

For a moment, Kaelix was struck with the longing to be a normal man. To be wed and head out to work each morning, return to his family in their warm home. At 27, it was a little perplexing to many commoners as to why he was not married. Then again, he had almost an eternity to settle himself down, but gods when he had to scamper after his master like this, it sure did look lovely.

The building they were approaching was emblazoned with a crest that looked somewhat familiar, not that he could place it exactly. He had very little time before Malofesto ushered him inside and down a long hallway to a pair of tall wooden doors. Two people pushed them open and Malofesto entered, swiftly followed by a mildly irritated looking Kaelix.

There were two other people here, a man looking towards them and a woman with her back to them. She was extremely pale, perhaps it was the light catching blonde hair or a trick of the light. Kaelix’s expression remained unamused as he approached her side, Malofesto stopping him from walking any further towards the man with a simple swipe of his hand. His master then continued up towards the other man, sharing a greeting that implied they knew each other decently well.

Reese watched as the two men greeted each other, wide eyes taking in every tiny detail she could see from the new guy. She was memorizing them, filing them away in some corner of her mind.
As her boss moved back to where he stood before, he began speaking, signing as he did so.
"Thank you for joining me. I called both of you today to discuss a matter you may have already heard about. The dangerous wizard known as Sinvash has been terrorizing the kingdom for quite some time now. I have been instructed by the king to gather a handful of sorcerers and pair them up, sending them out to help in the capture of Sinvash. Should you accept, you'll head out later tonight. I've prepared a book of spells that would help in your journey, as well as a few other supplies." He explained.
Reese couldn't believe what she was seeing. She wasn't sure if she was the best choice for this. Sure, her scores were higher than most of the other apprentices, but she knew they talked about her behind her back and saw her as weak. However, this was a once-in-a-lifetime chance to prove them wrong. She tucked some hair behind her ears and spoke up, "I accept." Her voice was soft and high-pitched, like a breeze rushing through tiny bells. Her words were slightly unintelligible due to this, as well as the fact that she couldn't hear herself. She carried herself with confidence and a fierce look in her eyes.

Kaelix’s shoulders curled in on themselves naturally, slightly hunching his back and decreasing his height as a consequence. Despite words being spoken, Kaelix’s eyes were drawn to the flicking movement of this new man’s hands as he spoke, it took a moment to piece together what he was doing. Unusual, but not unheard of to use one’s hands to communicate to those unable to hear, yet there was no one here who couldn’t hear what was being said.

He would have dwelled on the subject for a while longer had he not just processed what was being said. Kaelix narrowed his eyes, eyebrows settling sharply downwards. Malfesto was looking down at him with an amused expression, smug with himself for not letting his apprentice know what he was being brought to do. He wanted to refuse, to storm back out to Diamond and take off back home. He knew it wasn’t an option. Malfesto never gave him options, he was expected to accept this pairing and then get out of his master’s hair.

In all his scowling, Kaelix had nearly forgotten about the woman at his side, only being made aware of her presence when she spoke. Her voice was disjointed, like she didn’t quite know how to pronounce things correctly, it was fleeting and high pitched. Ah, well he had found the reason for the signing. Unfortunately, she was to be his partner in hunting down Sinvash. Incredible. Well, his once thought to be immortal life was surely about to end in the coming weeks.

That man was vicious, a loose cannon and here Kaelix stood with a partner that couldn’t even stand guard at night because anything could sneak up on her. Gods, what had he ever done to deserve this cruel fate.

Kaelix glanced away from the woman and up to Malfesto who was looking at him expectantly, the sparks of irritation beginning in his blue eyes as he grew tired of waiting for his apprentice to speak.

“I accept.” Kaelix’s voice was restrained, like he was trying to swallow the words he was speaking. Malfesto smiled wide, clasping his hands together in satisfaction, turning to look at his companion.

“Wonderful! I am sure they will be successful in their quest.” Malfesto purred, looking so pleased with himself that it made Kaelix’s muscles tighten up, the ligament in his neck popping slightly at the effort.

Reese turned on her heel and walked out of the room. She had sensed the unknown man's sour emotions mere seconds before he had even entered. She certainly wouldn't be looking forward to this either, considering he was most likely going to treat her like her peers did. What they failed to realize was that her boss wouldn't let her go on a quest that would put her in danger. She was perfectly capable of protecting and defending both herself and others. She just needed the chance.
Upon arriving in her room, she took a small moment to catch her breath before fully sending herself into packing mode. She found a suitable bag she could carry and filled it with clothing, cases of empty potion bottles, potion ingredients, and provisions. She had time to find anything else she'd need, as they would be leaving that night, but it never hurt to be prepared. She headed down to the dining hall to scrounge some breakfast together, needing something to take her mind off the anxiety gnawing at her stomach.
