Status: Flying With Dragons
Once upon a time two wolves wandered packless through the forest until one day they happened to be chasing squirrels and found themselves face to face in a clearing. Thus Xerxes and Amestris decided to join forces and form their own pack. Nature soon took its course and three beautiful pups were born.
The family lived happily, honing their hunting skills and playing in the forest. Then one day a strange wolf walked into their den. Xerxes was wary, but after Apollo submitted, apparently meeky, he grudgingly acknowledged that a sixth member of the pack might be useful when larger prey and opponents were discovered during a hunting trip. For many more years the pack lived quietly together, Apollo proving himself a reasonable Beta, albeit a little lazy in improving himself.
However the day came when Apollo caught sight of himself in a pond and saw his own muzzle was as grey as those of the Alphas. Perhaps he would not outlive Xerxes and become Alpha by default as he had dreamed. Perhaps the time had come to make his move. He had been watching the girls for years, planning which he would choose for his mate. Lachesis and Clotho were both strong but he thought Lachesis might be the better hunter and he wanted his son to have the best start in life so he went to her and persuaded her to join him. With her help Apollo became Alpha and Lachesis was soon expecting his son.
But Mother Nature doesn't like to be second guessed and their pup was a girl. Not only that but Apollo could see there was something wrong with it. It had trouble suckling and would sneeze milk and didn't seem as lively as a pup should be. As he sulked Lachesis ignored him and put all her efforts into trying to build up her sickly pup. When Carmit was old enough Lachesis tore off some pieces of squirrel meat and found that her pup could gobble them up much more easily than suckling and in a few days she grew more alert, taking in everything going on around her. She started tagging along on hunting trips, watching the pack intently and learning everything she could to become a hunter like them.
At last Apollo grudgingly admitted that his daughter was not completely useless but he still desperately wanted a son so he contrived to promote Clotho to Alpha and soon she was expecting a pup, but once again it was a girl. By now Xerxes was fed up with all the nonsense and reclaimed the Alpha positions for himself and Amestris while Apollo, feeling his age, decided to settle back into the easy life he had always enjoyed with the pack.
Then one morning Amestris faded into eternal slumber. The pack mourned the loss of her wisdom and compassion. After several months the girls realised that Xerxes was becoming less able to lead them and they started take on more responsibility. Atropos now decided to go and look for a lone male wolf who could lead their pack and make it strong again. She was away for a long time and when she returned she was expecting a pup. This time the whole pack hoped it would be a son.
