CKC is not as strict as AKC, and if I'm not mistaken, anyone with "experience" with breeding a purebred is allowed to put their on that list. The amount of backyard breeders registered with CKC is disgusting. Like mentioned, we don't really have anyone willing to properly test the puppies. |

the AKC tests for EVERYTHING when it comes to breeding and healthy puppies. So definently consider getting a dog from the AKC or a breeder that uses them in their breeding. |

Lazarus I remember being shocked to learn how many Canadian breeders consider health testing to just be “we made sure the parent doesn’t have this one common genetic issue” Instead of actual testing of the heart and hips and such |

10 baby quail and 6 teenagers and 1 currently trying to hatch for a total of 17 quail. Plus still have like 8 that need to hatch. |

I'd honestly buy from an AKC breeder with genetic, temperament and health testing. I'd gladly pay the conversion rate from CAD to USD and drive to the breeder for a healthy dog. |

To be completely honest though, I did not do tedious research because the resources to do so aren't available through the CKC website. Since his behavioural euthanasia, I've learnt a lot about finding a good breeder. |

Lazarus Right?? When looking for stock we had to avoid all the ‘grand sure mysteriously died at 5’ dogs where health issues were apparent but undocumented |

That sounds like a good breeder. Since I'm in Canada, we don't have as reliable resources as AKC. The only reason I'm firm on my beliefs with breeders is because I bought a catahoula from a registered CKC breeder, and that dog is a genetic mess. He's inbred, has neurological disorders, and the amount of health issues he has is astronomical. |

The dogs were still really nicely bred but he was unable to give them the same start or provide proper customer care after a while. Urged him to quit before he DID become equivalent to a backyard breeder -_- |

I used to have a 3/4's poodle, labradoodle and she was incredibly energetic and I loved her. We had to rehome her though because she had a personality disorder that a professional trainer who use to board her for us said could end up with either her or us hurt. |

I was a poodle breeder for a while. Working lines with health testing and temperament as our priority. We stopped as soon as my dad’s disability made it too hard to keep to the same quality with temperament testing and training though. |

The breeder im getting mine from is in SC and shes fabouslous. Hell, she breeds her own and has them set for the AKC. Shes an actual dog breeder who focuses on the breed themselves. no mixing the breed. cant wait to go train with her in May. The poodles in her care are belong to her personally and she knows the pedigrees of every single one of them. |

In my opinion, most breeders are backyard breeders. When buying a dog from them, you never know which strand of line you're getting. No one really cares for the breed and the purpose of the dog anymore. Paperwork also means nothing as it doesn't prove you're a reputable breeder. It's quite hard to find someone who truly cares about the outcome of the pups. |

But the main thing is that it will NEVER be on my bed. It will forever live in the crate in my room at night. Its a VERY VERY bad habit for them to be in a bed. They can have their own. |

Queen good idea xD dogs will be dogs, and will almost always have the hunting instinct, or the barking one! |
