Although it seemed pitch black, the light above was bright enough for you to make out her woeful face. Her silent sobs of pain could be seen, mouth agape and eyes shut as tears rolled down her beautiful face. But there was no sound of her crying. You think to yourself, "Shadows blanket her, and yet her face is still bright."
"It is," you hear, her voice raspy and gone. " I know what you're thinking. Let me tell you something." She walks towards you, her movement is so smooth it is as if she is floating. Her hand brushes against your cheek as she gently lifts your head up to look at the flickering candle.
" light shines through everything.
regardless of how dark it is, there will always be daytime to come. the sun peaks over the horizon at the start of a new day.
darkness takes over.
darkness will blind you. without street lights, you would not be able to see your way home. darkness is like life; beautiful but yet you blindly walk through it.
where is the middle ground? why is there only darkness and light?
in art, contrast is used to create shadows. darkness lingers everywhere, even with light. and yet, the moon is there.
the moon is beautiful, her craters visable to even the human eye if you stare at her long enough. of course man wanted to go to the moon. it's high in the sky. damn near unachievable to us here on Earth. And yet, it was a path of stars lighting the way to the moon. they sparkle in the air, bright balls of gas and fire. dangerous if you touch, but I still want to touch them. the darkness comforts me.
i see the moon and she sees me. she's the only one who has seen what's been done in the night, when i was alone and had nobody. her light is cold, not warm like the sun, and yet i'm like a moth, the moon child, attracted to her cold light. i look forward to the day where i can only exist in darkness."
The candle goes out, and everything is dark.
