The two warriors stood a few feet away from each other on the middle of the battle field, their gazes locked in a silent standoff. They had fought each other many times before, each time the fight ending in a stalemate. This time would be no different.

The sun beat down hard on the battlefield, the heat almost unbearable. The air was thick and heavy, and every breath the two warriors took felt like a struggle.

They were both exhausted from the long fight, yet neither one of them made a move. They both knew that if they gave in now, it would all be over.

The silence was broken by the sound of a bugle in the distance, signifying the end of the fight. The two warriors slowly lowered their weapons, and for the first time, each of them looked into the other’s eyes.

There was a moment of understanding between them, a moment of respect. Without a word, they both knew that this fight was not over, but merely on hold.

The two warriors bowed to each other, and then turned to leave the battlefield, knowing that when they returned, the fight would begin anew.
