LichenClan
You’re walking through the unknown forest, the leaves in full bloom as the moon slants through the trees, casting a silvery glow upon the earthen floor. The scent of prey and foliage fills the air. A stream bed ripples off to the side while the cry of a bird taking flight above you startles a mouse underfoot. You pause to look around, taking in the beauty of the territory, momentarily forgetting the hunger that had been clawing at your belly. And the fierce thirst that burned your throat and dried out your mouth. Your paws ached from your travels and despite this, you found that you could not feel overly upset at your current state of mind and body when surrounded by the beauty of this forest.
Underneath it all you find a growing stillness. The wind that was rustling through the trees has stopped, as if it was taking a breath, waiting for something to happen. The sound of soft pawsteps against the leave-strewn ground draws your attention. A squirrel lets out a cry of alarm and skitters up into the tree it had been sniffing around. The silence presses down on you as the fur along your spine bristles with anxious anticipation.
The scent of wolves approaching has you looking around the forest for an escape route. But before you could try and run you are surrounded. Wolves of many colors and shapes stand in a circle around you. Your teeth bare in warning, a rumbling growl filling your throat. It takes you a few moments before you realize that they are not showing any signs of aggression. In fact, one of them looks rather amused by your attempt at bravery.
“Hello there young one.” A large male spoke, the deep timbre of his voice rattling through the trees themselves like distant thunder. Looking closer you can see what looks like glowing starlight in his mottled black and brown fur. His copper eyes glowing with deep wisdom. “We have watched you for some time, waiting for you to enter our home. I am Russetstar, the first leader of LichenClan, the group of wolves that live in this territory.”
“And I am Tallstar,” A long legged brown tom with gray and golden colored spots stepped forward, his voice higher in pitch than Russetstar’s. I am his predecessor. We are the ancestors of LichenClan, the wolves who have lived and died, then lived again. We walk among the stars and lead our Clan in the ways of the Warrior Code.”
Russetstar stepped forward again, flicking his ear. “I know you have traveled far, but there is just a little more to go before you find where you belong. Follow us.” With that the group of wolves fall into a circle around you, leading you through the trees. The sun was beginning to lighten the sky by the time you found yourself standing above the lip of a hollow. The wolves that had led you here were beginning to fade, like dew in the first rays of warm sunlight. “Here is where you belong. In a pack that is more than a pack. They take everyone, no matter their past or future, no matter their skills or scars. You will always be welcome here.”
With that last whisper from the great leader, the group disappeared, leaving you alone on the lip of the hollow, overlooking the LichenClan camp. Taking a deep breath you found the energy had returned to your paws, your hunger was little more than a slight pang, and your thirst was practically gone. You move towards the entrance of the camp and are met by a small red ticked female with light gray patches of fur, and clever gray eyes. His broad chest puffed up as he looked down at you, "Welcome young pup," his tail flicks in amusement at the look of confusion on your face. "Don't worry, I call everyone pup, young or old. I am called Bluethroat, and I am the medicine wolf of LichenClan. I speak to our ancestors and advise our leaders and warriors, as well as heal them. Russetstar told me he had led someone to us, and it seems you are finally here. Come, meet your new Clanmates, let us feed you. Tell us your story, and we will tell you ours.
History
LichenClan was founded by Russetstar, a wolf who had been thrown from his own pack when he refused to accept the rules that were being imposed on him and his packmates. He left with two other wolves and found their own territory. They created their own pack, where it didn’t matter where you came from, what your past was, you were always welcome. They took those in that would be considered outcasts or freaks. They welcomed those who passed through, taking their stories to heart and learning from them.
When Russetstar died he was succeeded by Tallstar, his one and only son, and closest confidant. Tallstar took up the mantle that Russetstar had made and expanded on them. The pack grew larger and larger under his leadership. He followed his fathers footsteps. When he died he was mourned for months.
Glassstar was the next leader, taking up the position of leader of LichenClan. His fears for not being able to live up to his Clan’s expectations were soon seen as unwarranted. He is praised as being one of the best. He has brought the Clan to new heights and continues to follow the Clans rules and customs. He passed away at the ripe old age of 16, his stories echoing through time long after he has gone.
Robinstar took up the mantel of leader after the passing of Glassstar. The young warrior had never wanted to be leader, but their medicine wolf Burrowthroat had spoken to their ancestors and named her as the future of the Clan. So with great trepidition she took the nine lives of a leader and returned to her Clan, hoping to do them right.
Robinstar led a long life, leading the pack through hardships like they had never known. The Clan split up and spread out across the world, much to Robinstars dismay. She passed in the camp alone and wondering where she had gone wrong. When she joined her ancestors she found to her pleasant surprise that she was not to blame. Instead, she was given the task of hunting down the new members of LichenClan and guiding them to bring them up stronger than ever. Thus Silverstar became the new leader, with hopes and dreams for his new Clan.
Silverstar led the Clan for a very long time with his mate Brindlelight by his side. Unfortunately the two of them were killed on patrol by a group of rogue wolves. The stranger pack drove LichenClan from it's territory before moving on. The ancestors, driven by fury and grief, created a drought to kill the territory and drive the pack away. They left the forest to heal before seeking for another to rebuild LichenClan stronger than ever. And that is where Hickorystar comes into the story. She was chosen to be the next leader, and she will do anything and everything she can to hold up her promise.
Clan Members and Roles
The leader is in charge of taking care of the Clan. They must have had at least one apprentice and been deputy before they are capable of becoming leader. If a leader dies before a new deputy is made, then the medicine wolf will speak to their ancestors to find out who should be the new leader.

When they aren’t training or hunting they are tasked with taking care of the Elders, cleaning out their bedding, searching them for ticks, and bringing them food. They must undergo at least 5 moons of training and have at least two assessments before they can undergo their warrior ceremony where they will sit vigil the first night, keeping watch over the Clan silently until their first sunrise as warriors.

Queens are female wolves who are expecting or have already had pups. Some Queens may decide to become den mothers and not return to their duties as warriors, instead choosing to help new Queens with their pups. A pregnant she-wolf will leave the warrior's den and enter the nursery a moon before they have their pups, and stay until their pups become apprentices. It is the job of every Queen in the nursery to take care of the pups.

The pups of the Clan are the most cherished wolves. They can get away with almost anything, though their are limits. They are the first to eat when weaned and tend to get underfoot. But the wolves of LichenClan are pushovers when it comes to the pups and they will go out of their way to make sure that the pups are having fun. The Elders love telling them stories and teaching them what it means to be a Clan Wolf. At this age they do not have any worries other than when their next meal is and when they have to go to bed.
Pups

The Elders are wolves who have grown too old or injured to hunt, fight, or have/care for pups anymore. After an honorable life they have retired to the Elders den where they spend their days in comfort. They share stories, and when asked, they give advice to any wolf that comes to them. They will live like this until they go to join their Warrior Ancestors.

Rehoming
These wolves are searching for another pack. They feel like they could be better suited somewhere else, be it for a new mae, a chance at carving their own destiny, or even to just teach others what it is they have learned in a Clan.

Thank you to everyone who has made it this far and to those who have shown their support and love for my wonderful Clan. If you have any questions please feel free to PM me, and if you want to add any CP or paws to any of these magnificent wolves, you have both my blessing and my thanks!
