I don't know how it works in game, but if I understood the bird site correctly an albino is an amelanic with zero ability to produce melanism. But you can have partial amelanism where they can produce melanism (& not have the red eyes for example) but it doesn't connect to all or parts of the hair, so they may have spots w/o color instead of all over like an albino.
