I think it kind of started from my wolf Salad basically stalking every pack then my evil alpha female made a agreement with one of Serpents alphas followed by friendship following to Niro.

Most of my elder wolves would just follow every pack.

I think someone thought Salad could teleport? So, I may have started it and others hopped onto the train

As long as the wolf is old enough, and has breeding slots left, you should be able to breed them to any of your female wolves.

(Wolves can breed starting age 2 I think?)
