Ah, I think I meant more of a livestock guarding dog. I live in an area where strays and the occasional coyote pop up, and where I plan to plant a homestead would likely have me dealing with more coyotes and potentially larger predators.

I wouldn't say it's necessarily required to have a farmdog but one could definitely be helpful for herding
