There was this buckskin mare I worked with once, her owner said she was the meanest mare they owned at the time, but every time I was around her, she was gentle as could be. I mainly just ignored her until she was comfortable enough to nudge me for attention and let me ride her.

I have never been more grateful for leather boots than when an 18-hand monster of a horse stepped on my foot while I was brushing him. Sweetheart with the best temperament I've ever seen on an OTTB, but damn was he heavy.
