The spring showers came down in light
sheets, misting the forest and covering
the leaves and ferns with dewdrops, the
fresh, earthy scent of rain filling the air.
In the early morning quiet, a single white
wolf sat in front of a rocky outcrop, his
long, slender head tilted upwards towards
the sky, his eyes shut to the gentle falling
of rain.
After what seemed like many long moments
of stillness and calm, his ears swiveled to
the side at the sound of pawsteps on the
damp ground.
As the young she-wolf approached him,
he turned his head towards her and
opened his eyes, revealing stunning
crimson irises. They were a bright, vivid
color.
The juvenile didn't seem to mind. She
nodded once in respect for the herbalist,
before sitting down besides him.
For a few moments, the two of them
allowed the sound of the early morning
songbirds to fill the air, before the white
male spoke.
