Biography In memory of my old dog, Charlie Jack, or Charlie.
A huge thanks to EmberStone for this wonderful Christmas gift.
Charlie was my baby, and best friend, for twelve or thirteen years, he was around sixteen when he had to be put down on May 11th, 2015. I adopted him from a kind young woman who had just started collage and didn't have the time to keep him, she chose me out of several people intrested because I had just recently lost two very old rescue dogs and I needed a new compainion to always have at my side and because, I can't remember if I was the only one for sure, I was at least the only one who said he'd be sleeping in my arms each night. He came home with me when I was 9 years old.
About six(maybe seven) years ago he got a slow growing cancer and the vet said we should be prepared for him to only live another year or two, maybe three at most, but he lived seven years total after he was diagnosed..
If he were younger when we brought Bear to be trained as my service dog, home he'd have been trained as my service dog in her place, but he was old and looked to be in poor health and we thought he'd only live a couple months at most after that. But he lived two years after Bear came home to stay.
On Sunday, May 10th, the day before I made the hard decision to let him go in peace, he collapsed screaming in pain when my mother let him outside in the morning to do his business. My mother woke me up and told me what had happened and that Charlie wasn't doing well. I went down stairs and stayed with him until night time, when my father carefully helped me bring him up to my room, he wanted to be at my side the whole day, even though the slightest movement sent him shrieking on pain. If I moved a little he moved closer to my, shrieking in agony until he was at my side.
Bear even knew something wasn't right and at one point brought one of her toys(though it may have been a bone), wagging her tail gently, then stopped, tail drooping slightly, she laid it next to his chest and softly pressed her head against him then laid down at his side, lower back pressed against my leg and stayed there for almost an hour.
My dad and mom had to help me move him a couple times and it caused him so much pain he'd snap at them trying to get them to stop, but when I was holding him in the veterinary office's waiting room, which was a much more uncomfortable position he never once turned to try to get my to stop causing him pain.
..I think he knew what was going to happen when we arrived at the vet and were called into the room. His gaze never left mine until he drew his last breath. Cancer took its you on him, as well as bloat and tumors and possible other things, but now he's no longer in pain, he's free and I know I will see him once again once I draw my final breath
I couldn't of asked for a better dog; he was extremely loyal, protective, understanding, a true companion.

| Personality Charlie was smart, loyal, faithful, protective, gentle, thoughtful, kind, loving and understanding.
Preferences Charlie wasn't able to eat wheat, grains, chicken or lamb. He loved rawhide, treats, bones, meat, as well as various other things. He liked beef and salmon dog foods best.
Special Skills Charlie was always able to tell if something wasn't right or if I was in pain. He always knew when he was needed. He was forgiving and understanding on many occasions, such as when I was once cuddling with him at the top of the stairs and upon getting up I accidentally kneed him down the stairs. He just ran back up to my side with a look that clearly said It's alright, I'm not hurt, I know you didn't mean to do that Another was over many occasions after I brought Bear home to train her as my service dog. He didn't like how he no longer got all my attention but I know he could tell there was a reason I had to get a new dog and spend a lot of time with her. After she got a little older they even became great friends, if not best friends.
