Biography Vitani knew two things for certain. That the wind was fast, and that she was faster. As soon as the breeze hit, this one more insistent than the one before, Vitani ran.
One paw in front of the other, she bolted down the hill, leaping over sticks and swerving through rocks. Agile as a deer, swift as a mountain lion. The wind continued to pick up, only filling her bones further with excitement.
She had not won a race against the wind yet, but her time would come. Reaching a pile of particularly big rocks, the pup jumped from one to the other-
With a yelp, Vitani dug her claws into the rock beneath her before slipping off its surface completely. She hit the earth with a yowl, rolling across grass and sticks until coming to a stop on her side. Ouch.
Before she could drag to her feet, a black nose pushed at her side. "Vitani!" Her father stressed, nosing her shoulder next. Slightly sore, Vitani pushed herself into a sitting position. Her father whined with worry. "You can't run off like that, what if you got lost?"
"She's fine," a gentle voice came from behind them. When a black she-wolf emerged from behind the pile of rocks, Vitani lit up with joy, the fall forgotten completely. "Did you see?!" she asked, jumping up with her ears perked and tail raised high, "did you see how fast I was?! And how I flew over the rocks!"
Her mother chuckled as she watched Vitani jumping from one parent to the next. "She could've been hurt," her father muttered. Her mother bumped shoulders with him. "But she didn't, Dothrakhqoyi."
Vitani tilted her head curiously at her parents. Then a leaf swirled by, and she quickly got distracted. With a sudden burst of energy, she ran after it. "Don't run too far," her father called after her.
Vitani leapt off the ground and caught the leaf with a victorious bark.
