bro i had stomach flu thingy, already skinny but lost additional 4kg in 3 days, i literally could not stand up on my own, and he pestered me if i can come in to work? like my guy? your work requires standing AND walking, and i cannot do either of those things?? i will call you as soon as im /able/ to work a shift. he ended up closing "for a while" because no one was available to work lol
Cae, them taking days off cause they can't be bothered to try and find new staff is the most devious thing ever. Literally do it yourself then, it's not like you have anything better to do i'm sure. xD
Hecc I feel like it's also a sort of social pressure, but definitely largely those things as well. Turns out this mentality of "be grateful you got a job" is especially strong in post-Soviet countries, who would have thought huh ð
Cae IT'S A COFFEE PLACE?? my god, that sort of rush is the WORST, most stressful thing Good on you for saying no holy shit. I have had horrible panic attacks in situations like that Saying it "steeled her" is fucked up, I've never met him but I hate him horribly
hec, right XD mine tried to get me to work all week and i was like, 2 days off are not up for negotiation, im sorry. i dont mind working the weekend but i do mind not getting my days off ;^; your lack of staff aint my issue, and you could always work yourself?
Reprobate I think it's the lack of experience or ig just ''gratitude'' for being given a job that makes you neglect your well being. Of course you should be nice to your bosses and respect the fact you were given a job but it should never come at the expense of your well being. At least that's what I think lmao. It is hard to find a job like that now unfortunately
rep, but like, when his best worker started, the school nearby had like a festival day so ALL parents and ALL kids and ALL teachers were free to come for a coffee, so she died there alone (a customer with coffee shop experience jumped in to help her) and that steeled her!! made her the best and fastest worker ever!! and he wanted to do that to me too!! :D
Cae, it's the ''first real job'' experience you must go through as a rite of passage, made me really picky about jobs but also kinda gave me a backbone and taught me to say no from time to time lmao
Cae Bosses in customer service jobs have got to be one of the least empathetic and careless people I've ever met. Worked at a hotel restaurant at like 18 and had to come in for 12 hour shifts twice in a week with no breaks, Did what Reprobate did and felt bad for them being understaffed which resulted in me losing my summer and being completely drained. Not worth it :')
