Biography
A figure watched from the shadows, black pelt matching his dark surroundings. His icy gaze swept over the dense meadow, towering shapes leaning over as if trying to hide the sunlight. A sudden smell made his fur stand on end: it was a familiar scent, one that he hadnÂÂ’t smelled for a long time. A wolf scent. His eyes narrowed, paws raking the ground in hostility.
‘TheyÂÂ’re all the same.ÂÂ’ Bat knew it far too well. Wolves. Ruthless, selfish and cruel. He, of them all knew the truth better than anyone else. His old pack mates had been just like that. Pitiless, unforgiving and arrogant, even towards a three month-old pup. For them there was no difference. None. When the pup had set desperate eyes on who once thought as family, hoping for at least one pair of forgiving eyes, he had met only hostile looks, bared teeth and flattened ears.
‘YouÂÂ’re just a runt.ÂÂ’ The words rang in his ears. These exact words had made him change sides. Him, once content about anything, had become what he was now because of them. A cold, cruel loner whose heart stopped long ago. Perhaps he should be grateful that his pack took away his innocence. Perhaps even he should thank them. But this heart now, cold as ice, could feel no more. He who used to understand the beauty of life; he who used to play wrestling matches with his siblings; he was now gone. ‘And IÂÂ’m better off this way
