Character Description
Biography
Spruce had a tragically short life as a sudden Spring flood as the winter snows melted made their Mother's whelping den uninhabitable before the pups had even opened their eyes. While the pack were moving the pups to a new dry and safe location, they ran into a very grouchy grizzly bear who'd just awoken from hibernation and despite the packs attempts to avoid a conflict the bear attacked. Spruce was knocked from his Mother's friend Cinder's grasp and the rampaging bear stood on him; killing him instantly before any of the pack could react to save him. His two siblings were rushed from the scene and hidden with their Mother among the brambles while the rest of the pack took vengeance on the bear. Spruce was buried with all the ceremony awarded to an explorer which was a comfort to his parents. Cinder spent many moons blaming herself for the tragedy and it took a long time before the pack; including Spruce's parents, were able to convince her that it could have happened to any of then and that she wasn't to blame. Since his death Spruce has appeared to the pack in spirit form as the wolf he'd have grown up to be during the FMC, reassuring them all that he blames no member of the pack for his death and that he watches over his siblings and will enjoy playing with them when they eventually join him in the heavens.
