Biography
The Loupnoir (night wolf) pack started when a young wolf named Flurry dispersed from her frozen homeland to find a mate. As she traveled, her snowy coat glinted in the moonlight, catching the eye of another pack from a mountain ridge. One wolf, a young male, called to her, but she did not answer. She kept traveling.
A few days later, Flurry caught the scent of a young male. She marked it and moved on. As she paused to drink from a river, she heard a soft huff behind her. Flurry spun to face the intruder and growled, but the silver wolf, Kai, merely wagged his tail and smiled.
"Hello Moonlight."
"My name is Flurry!"
"It suits you," He crinkled his lips in amusement before calmly stepping past her to get a drink.
Flurry started to leave but the young male spoke again. "I called to you a few days ago. I just wanted to say your coat is very beautiful. I could see it, shining in the moonlight miles away."
Flurry flattened her ears. "Thanks for the warning. I will stay in the tree line from now on..."
Kai raised his head. "I've been wanting to see a forest. Would you mind if I accompany you until we reach one we can explore?"
Flurry snorted. "Why should I trust you?"
"Because I trust you not to harm me. And because two wolves can look out for each other. But if you really do not want me near you, I respect your wishes. I will go now..." He padded back the way he'd come and circled around. "By the way, my name is Kai."
Putting on a burst of speed, Kai ran toward a boulder jutting out of the riverbed. Bounding up it, he launched himself into the air, soaring across the water. He landed neatly on the opposite shore and glanced over his shoulder to see if Flurry had noticed. He caught her staring, but she quickly pretended to find something else interesting instead. Kai grinned and walked away.

Flurry sniffed some bushes and pawed at a mushroom but when she heard Kai leave, she immediately rushed to the riverside to look for him. Something inside of her was reluctant to let him out of her sight. Panting anxiously, she tried the same trick he had pulled off, but her smaller, lighter frame didn't have as much momentum and she landed in the water instead. She yelped in surprise and flailed, trying to get to her feet.
The current pushed her downstream a few yards before she washed up against a submerged log. Flurry grabbed a branch in her teeth and pulled herself up onto it. She tried to shake the water off her coat but the rotten bark under her claws tore off and she slipped.
As Flurry scrambled to regain her footing, she heard and felt something heavy land on the log and move toward her. Moments later, she felt hot breath on her neck. Jaws sank into her scruff and dragged her higher up on the log. She clawed and flailed until she got to her feet. She was momentarily startled to learn that her assistant was Kai, but she quickly gathered her wits and pushed past him to leap onto the shore.
Kai stumbled but he managed to keep his balance.
"Are you alright?" He asked her with concern once he joined her on the bank.
"Yes," Flurry shook herself, spraying Kai. He had the decency to move away before ridding himself of the cold droplets.
"I'm glad." Kai resumed walking away.
"Is that it?" Flurry challenged. "No chiding; no lessons about manners or looking before I leap?"
"No. You learned that lesson yourself. I would appreciate a thank you, but it's not necessary. A good deed is a reward unto itself."
Preferences
Flurry is a chameleon as far as personality goes. She reflects the behaviors and attitudes of those around her. She can be playful and carefree around rambunctious pups. She can be aloof and cold, or curious and kind. Whatever the situation calls for, she adapts.
Although Flurry is a fiercely independent wolf and a free thinker, she highly values her mate. Usually, whatever decision he makes, she follows through on. She's learned compassion and empathy for other animals from Kai, and she's starting to take interest in the plants and objects they find on their explorations, andhas dug up a few interesting finds herself. She is enjoying playing with and teaching her pups the same lessons she has learned in life alongside her mate.
