Biography 'I'll never understand you, moon,' the pup said, looking up at the celestial body. 'You're so distant and unreachable.'
The moon didn't answer, of course. It just stared back at the pup, its surface bright and impenetrable.
'You don't even seem real,' the pup continued. 'You're just a big, shining rock.'
Again, the moon said nothing.
'But I guess that's what I like about you,' the pup said after a long moment. 'You're always there, but you're never really obtainable. You're like a goal that's always just out of reach.'
The pup sighed and turned away from the moon.
'I'll never understand you,' the pup said one last time, before padding off into the darkness.
'Ah, Moon,' the great wolf howls, 'I can see my ancestors in your face. Do you remember them, Moon? Do you remember when they used to howl at you?'
The Moon doesn't answer, of course, but the wolf doesn't mind. He knows that the Moon hears him.
'They were good wolves, my ancestors. Strong and brave. I like to think I'm like them.'
The wolf pauses, and then he howls again. It's a mournful sound, but there's also a hint of hope in it.
'But I'm also different from them. I'm the first wolf to ever talk to you, Moon. It's a special honor, and I know that they're watching me from the other side. I won't let them down.'
